Senior Data Engineer (Scala) - Remote (USA)
About The Position
Our Health Engineering Solutions (HES) team works side by side with customers to articulate a vision for success, and then make it happen. We know success doesn't happen by accident. It takes the right team of people, working together on the right solutions for the customer. We are looking for a Data Engineer who will be a key driver to make this happen. The position is for the Clinical Interface and Scoring portion of the Quality Payment Program for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS). This position requires that the job be performed in the United States. If you accept this position, you should note that ICF does monitor employee work locations and blocks access from foreign locations/foreign IP addresses, and also prohibits personal VPN connections. The work effects the quality and cost of care for Medicare and Medicaid patients through the Quality Payment Program. You will be involved in a highly successful team that has a long track record of meeting deadlines and delivering quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred in Computer Science, IT or a related field).
- 5+ years of experience in software or data development.
- 3+ years use of on-the-job level of coding skills in Scala or other similar languages.
- 3+ years working in a data engineering role.
- 2+ years of experience with any SQL dialect.
- Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
- Candidate must reside in the U.S., be authorized to work in the U.S., and all work must be performed in the U.S.
- Candidate must have lived in the U.S. for three (3) full years out of the last five (5) years.
- Strong problem-solving skills, able to work independently.
- Ability and desire to take ownership of and initiative for analyses, from requirements clarification to deliverables.
- Strong technical communication skills; both written and verbal.
- Ability to understand and articulate the "big picture" and simplify complex ideas.
- Ability to identify and learn new techniques independently as needed.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience working with Medicare and/or Medicaid data, especially claims data and familiarity with claims codes (HCPCS/CPT/ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS).
- Prior experience with Spark/PySpark/SparkR for analyzing large amounts of data.
- Advanced SQL querying skills and database management knowledge.
- Git/Github experience.
- Have worked in an agile environment.
- Have used Confluence and Jira.
- Experience working on a project using the Scaled Agile Framework.
- Experience on a software development team building modern software products.
- Flexible and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Document and communicate requirements for data engineers
- Write Scala code to support the work on the Claims Cost Measures Team.
- Utilize and write Python Scripts for ETL and Data Analysis.
- Perform Data Validation and utilize SQL for data queries.
- Improve Data Quality Checks
- Update and enhance Data Documentation
- Communicate with external partners around requirements
- Working consistently scripting and analyzing data.
- Consistent JIRA and Confluence use.
- Must attend Scrum Ceremonies and Test Meetings.
