About The Position

Namespace's approach is low-friction, designed for immediate integration into existing developer toolchains, empowering teams to experience tangible results within just five minutes. With an end-to-end stack optimized for high performance—including compute, memory, storage, and networking—Namespace delivers capabilities and efficiencies unmatched by traditional cloud providers. We already run all our platforms - Linux, MacOS and Windows – on our own bare metal which allows us to optimize performance and reliability. And we are further expanding our footprint. As the Senior Data Center Operations Lead, you'll own the physical side of that build-out end to end: power, cooling, racks, network, and the people and vendors who deliver on time. You'll work closely with our infrastructure engineers in Europe and the US to turn capacity plans into real racks. Critically, you’ll also set the operating standards for the US footprint.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience building out or operating data centers or large-scale bare metal fleets, including bringing new capacity online
  • A real feel for the fundamentals: power distribution, cooling, high-density racks, and high-speed networking
  • You've deployed hardware at scale, managing the colos, contractors, and vendors it takes to get it deployed
  • Comfortable with Linux and MacOS
  • Clear communication and ownership, especially when working across time zones with a distributed team
  • Based near Ashburn, Virginia

Responsibilities

  • Own the data center build-out and expansion, from site selection and cage design through go-live and steady-state operations
  • Work through power budgets, cooling, and density with colocation providers
  • Deploy and maintain racks: compute, memory and storage optimized servers, and cabling
  • Work with our infrastructure engineers on rack design, network capacity, and peering, feeding what you learn on the floor back into the next design revision
  • Own data center operations from purchase order to production: procure hardware, manage delivery and logistics, and run the site day to day with runbooks, maintenance, incident response, and root-cause analysis
  • Manage hardware and datacenter vendors, contractors, and SLAs, and hold them to the same bar we hold ourselves
  • Act as the bridge between the site, the team in Europe, and leadership, keeping timelines and risks visible

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and stock options
  • Flexible working hours
  • Market-leading parental leave
