About The Position

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Hyperscale Data Center Delivery organization is searching for a Senior Data Center Commissioning Engineer to support commissioning across multiple data center projects, as well as related design and engineering initiatives for OCI's Abilene AI Data Center and Oracle's Data Center in Shackelford, Texas. The role helps ensure data center systems are installed, tested, documented, and turned over in alignment with business objectives, operational requirements, industry standards, and Oracle's expectations for safety, reliability, quality and performance. This is a field-focused role that works closely with commissioning leads, construction teams, vendors, control teams, contractors, and operational stakeholders. This role is based in Abilene, Texas. Oracle will provide relocation packages to eligible candidates.

Requirements

  • Experience in data center commissioning, mission critical facilities, construction, engineering, startup, testing, or facility operations.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, controls, fire/life safety, or integrated building systems.
  • Experience supporting field testing, inspections, startup activities, or turnover documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, commissioning documents, test procedures, and equipment documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify readiness gaps, field issues, and documentation errors.
  • Ability to coordinate across contractors, vendors, commissioning teams, engineering teams, and operations stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced construction and startup environment.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, reliability, and operational readiness.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting hyperscale, cloud, colocation, or mission critical data center projects.
  • Experience with large-scale data center campuses or multi-building delivery programs.
  • Familiarity with commissioning levels, startup sequencing, integrated systems testing, and operational turnover.
  • Experience with major electrical systems such as switchgear, UPS, generators, PDUs, transformers, and EPMS.
  • Experience with mechanical systems such as chillers, CRAHs/CRACs, pumps, cooling towers, air handling systems, and BMS.
  • Familiarity with controls systems, sequence of operations, alarm validation, trend reviews, and systems integration.
  • Experience supporting energization planning, LOTO coordination, MOP review, or commissioning safety procedures.
  • Experience using commissioning management platforms, issue tracking tools, document control systems, or project management tools.
  • Prior experience working with general contractors, trade partners, OEM vendors, commissioning agents, and operations teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, construction management, facilities management, or a related technical field is preferred but not required with equivalent experience.
  • Certifications or training may include: Certified Commissioning Professional — CCP Certified Commissioning Authority — CxA BICSI Data Center Design Consultant — DCDC OSHA 30-Hour Construction NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Training Project Management Professional — PMP Electrical, mechanical, controls, safety, or mission critical operations certifications are also valued

Responsibilities

  • 5 years' experience support commissioning, startup, testing, and turnover activities for assigned data center systems for hyperscale, cloud, colocation, or mission critical data center projects
  • Assist with functional testing, integrated systems testing, energization readiness, and operational readiness activities.
  • Review commissioning plans, test scripts, schedules, turnover packages, and system readiness documentation.
  • Coordinate with construction teams, vendors, controls teams, commissioning agents, and operations personnel.
  • Monitor field progress and help verify systems are ready for commissioning and turnover.
  • Identify commissioning risks, system readiness gaps, deficiencies, and documentation issues.
  • Track commissioning issues through resolution and support timely closure.
  • Participate in commissioning coordination meetings, readiness reviews, and startup planning discussions.
  • Support validation of electrical, mechanical, controls, fire/life safety, and integrated data center systems.
  • Assist with reviewing MOPs, test procedures, equipment startup documentation, and vendor reports.
  • Ensure commissioning activities are performed safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Support turnover documentation, test records, deficiency logs, and operational handoff packages.
  • Communicate status, risks, blockers, and field issues clearly to commissioning leadership.
  • Capture lessons learned and help improve commissioning execution across future projects.
