About The Position

This highly technical role serves as a key technical engineer plus advisory level resource, responsible tools and support for them used for the execution of data center cluster projects at AMD CSP partners and enterprise commercial end-customers. The position provides a unique opportunity to leverage expertise in systems management automation, graphics, compute, storage, networking, data center technologies, virtualization, AI/Machine Learning, and program management to collaborate with the internal team customers utilizing AMD Instinct™ Accelerators to help build tool stacks and support them for the teams that are building out large scale clusters. You must be a team player with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional skills in AI GPU hardware, software, systems management, and networking, especially with high-speed data fabrics. Should be highly analytical, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and maintain a positive, results-driven attitude, as well as work closely with customers in an advisory role to provide guidance during large scale cluster bringup and validation. The candidate should be a developer with expertise in data center systems engineering, or a platform engineer with experience in large scale system bringup. Some familiarity with GPUs and machine learning techniques in an AI setting is a plus. They must be self-motivated and capable of working effectively within a team environment, as well as communicating concisely at all levels within an organization.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering
Exceptional skills in AI GPU hardware, software, systems management, and networking, especially with high-speed data fabrics.
Highly analytical, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and maintain a positive, results-driven attitude.
Ability to work closely with customers in an advisory role to provide guidance during large scale cluster bringup and validation.
Developer with expertise in data center systems engineering, or a platform engineer with experience in large scale system bringup.
Self-motivated and capable of working effectively within a team environment.
Ability to communicate concisely at all levels within an organization.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree
Familiarity with GPUs and machine learning techniques in an AI setting
Developer focused engineer with exposure to working with data center deployment engineers, along with supporting the teams doing hands-on management roles during cluster system bringup.
Data center customer support tool skills using automation tools and frameworks such as Ansible, bash, Python and others.
Experience with the tools used in bringup of data center servers and racks, server architecture and functionality, including remote management via BMC, network topologies, and graphics software/hardware subsystems.
Linux installation, setup, usage, tuning, and debugging.
Virtual environments (e.g., VMWare, Citrix, KVM, Microsoft) and virtual machine setup/management.
Familiarity with data center GPU software stacks such as AMD ROCm™ or Nvidia CUDA.
Familiarity with distributed network libraries (e.g., NCCL/RCCL, MPI) with GPU accelerators in distributed memory systems and high-speed network protocols/topologies.
Strong skill in high-performance fabrics for HPC and AI, such as RDMA/RoCE and InfiniBand.
Some familiarity with AI and machine learning workloads, frameworks, and models.
Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analysis skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for conveying technical information.
Self-starter with attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Develop a strong understanding of the tools needed to support other teams in ensuring an impactful and effective task completion as they bringup and validate clusters at CSPs and customer data centers.
Provide technical guidance and support for tooling at an advisory level to our internal customers for server clusters, focused on large scale GPU deployments.
Assist development teams in identifying and resolving hardware/software technical issues throughout the cluster lifecycle, from initial bring-up to entering service for running workloads.
Provide technical guidance to internal teams based on customer feedback from the deployment teams.
Resolve technical issues for customers utilizing AMD Instinct™ server products in clusters.
Mentor junior members of the technical staff.
Follow procedures to communicate, report, and escalate incidents to AMD management.
