(USA) Senior Data Assurance Engineer
About The Position
The Senior Data Assurance Engineer will lead efforts to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance within Walmart’s data protection framework. This role involves overseeing data loss prevention operations, conducting risk assessments, and guiding incident response activities. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance information assurance practices, develop and test code solutions, and implement cyber risk mitigation strategies. The engineer will also mentor team members, maintain documentation, and support continuous improvement initiatives to safeguard sensitive information and uphold organizational standards. The Research Science and Hardware Intelligence team leads academic and applied research focused on Security Operations, Forensics, and hardware analysis. This team integrates advanced techniques in data protection, incident management, and cyber risk assessment to enhance organizational security. Collaborating closely with stakeholders, the team drives innovation through rigorous research and analysis, supporting the development of effective information assurance strategies. Members contribute to safeguarding sensitive data and advancing hardware interrogation methods, ensuring robust defenses against emerging threats while maintaining high standards of accuracy and reliability in all operations.
Requirements
- Proven expertise in Data Loss Prevention operations, including incident management and investigative reporting.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, privacy standards, and encryption algorithms.
- Experience with coding languages such as SQL, Java, C, or Python, and software testing methodologies.
- Ability to conduct cyber risk assessments and propose effective mitigation strategies.
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement, communication, and managing functional partnerships.
- Proficient in information assurance practices, data processing, and quality assurance for data accuracy.
- Demonstrated capability to mentor team members and document operational procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity or related area and 3 years’ experience in data assurance at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.
- OR 5 years’ experience in data assurance at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.
Nice To Haves
- Certification in Security+, Network+, GISF, CISSP, or CCSP
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity or related area and 1 year’s Exposure of leading/ working on Information Security / Cybersecurity Projects
- Knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining efforts to create accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality assurance to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) event data.
- Guide and mentor team members on DLP operations, policies, and investigative tools.
- Identify and analyze data leak incidents, recommending policy updates and tool enhancements.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures related to data security and incident response.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to assess cyber risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Support coding, testing, and deployment of security solutions aligned with business requirements.
- Document processes, oversee projects, and assist with monthly reporting for the team.
