About The Position

Boond is looking for a Senior Data Analytics Engineer to join their 100% remote team. This role is crucial for helping client companies (ESN) better leverage their data, turning analytics into a core product feature. The position involves building and modeling data using dbt, SQL, and ClickHouse, ensuring data quality and product-friendliness. You will also be responsible for delivering end-to-end dashboards on Superset for both clients and internal use, focusing on real-world adoption and iteration. A key part of the role is evolving data pipelines, migrating existing systems, and collaborating with Data Engineers to integrate the analytics layer into the data platform. You will also be tasked with improving data reliability and performance, implementing dbt tests, data quality checks, and optimizing slow ClickHouse queries. Growing analytics engineering practices like clean Git usage, testing, and code reviews, and onboarding the data team onto these practices are also expected. Additionally, you will use AI tools like Claude to accelerate production tasks while maintaining proper safeguards. The role also includes data scoping, understanding needs from various stakeholders (recruiters, CSMs, sales, marketing, clients), transforming vague requirements into deliverable increments, proposing demos, and prioritizing tasks. You will unify business definitions, establish naming conventions, create a semantic layer, and document everything in a data glossary. The ultimate goal is to empower business teams with self-service BI capabilities, train them to answer their own questions in Superset, and measure adoption. You will also provide feedback to data-producing teams to improve source data quality.

Requirements

  • Solid SQL skills.
  • Proficiency in data modeling (dbt or equivalent).
  • Experience with at least one BI tool (e.g., Looker, Power BI, Metabase, Superset).
  • Experience in data modeling, ETL/ELT, and data warehousing.
  • Autonomy in scripting (Python, Shell, etc.).
  • Strong engineering hygiene (Git, tests).
  • Ability to use AI tools for production tasks and verify their output.
  • Autonomy and decision-making skills: ability to make decisions, document them, and move forward.
  • Proactive in seeking out needs and ability to challenge requests that lack sense.
  • Strong written communication skills for a fully remote environment.
  • Experience with dbt, SQL, ClickHouse, Airflow, Superset, GitLab CI.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building a data stack from scratch.
  • Experience with custom code on BI tools (plugins, extensions, forks).
  • Knowledge of the ESN/services/staffing industry (TJM, inter-contract, billing).

Responsibilities

  • Design and model data using dbt, SQL, and ClickHouse to ensure it is clean and product-friendly (staging -> intermediate -> marts).
  • Manage data historization vs. current data and establish a metrics layer with single, documented, and reusable indicator definitions.
  • Deliver end-to-end dashboards on Superset for clients (e.g., inter-contract management) and internal BI (sales, marketing, finance).
  • Measure dashboard adoption and iterate based on actual usage.
  • Evolve data pipelines and migrate existing systems.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers to integrate the analytics layer into the data platform.
  • Implement dbt tests, data quality checks, and optimize ClickHouse query performance.
  • Promote and implement analytics engineering best practices (Git, tests, code reviews) within the data team.
  • Utilize AI tools like Claude for production tasks with appropriate safeguards.
  • Gather data needs directly from stakeholders (recruiters, CSMs, sales, marketing, clients).
  • Transform unclear needs into short, deliverable increments, propose demos, and suggest prioritization.
  • Unify divergent business definitions (e.g., single governed MRR), establish naming conventions, and create a documented semantic layer (data glossary, shared definitions).
  • Enable business teams with self-service BI, train users on Superset, and measure adoption.
  • Gain adoption of standards and dashboards through conviction and demos.
  • Provide feedback to data-producing teams to improve source data quality.
