About The Position

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team within the Optimal Aging Institute at NYU Langone Health as a Senior Data Analyst. The Senior Data Analyst will work closely with Dr. Xiaqing Jiang, an Assistant Professor in the Optimal Aging Institute, on high-impact epidemiologic research on Alzheimer disease and Alzheimer disease-related dementias (AD/ADRD), cognitive aging, and brain health. Our mission is to improve life course brain health through a better understanding of modifiable risk factors in the aging population. We are seeking a highly skilled individual to apply advanced epidemiologic and statistical methods across an active portfolio of research projects using multiple, large longitudinal cohort studies at the intersection of the following areas: Multimorbidity, vascular, and other modifiable risk factors; Cognitive aging, brain health, and AD/ADRD biomarkers; Latent variable analysis and psychometrics.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant field such as public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, data science, or a related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience conducting data analysis in a healthcare, public health, or policy research setting.
  • Advanced proficiency in statistical methods for clinical trials, longitudinal and multivariate data, survival data analysis, weighted analyses, and/or high-dimensional data analysis.
  • Strong computational skills (i.e. proficiency in SQL, SAS, R, and/or Stata, or other, and the ability to learn new languages and systems rapidly) are required.
  • Strong motivation and dependability.
  • Ability to manage multiple analytic workstreams and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A commitment to collaborative team science.
  • A high level of organization.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with multi-cohort analyses, data pooling, cognitive harmonization, and machine learning is highly desirable.
  • Prior involvement in multidisciplinary academic research teams and contribution to grant-funded research projects and publications.

Responsibilities

  • Work on study design, protocol development, data preparation, statistical analysis, data interpretation, conference presentations, and manuscript preparation.
  • Develop and maintain new/existing study data, resolving database issues that may be complex, and optimizing performance for data extraction and analyses.
  • Develop, communicate and carry out procedures designed to facilitate data analyses and interpretation.
  • Engage in data checking, summary, and manipulation in consultation with principal investigators and collaborators.
  • Program statistical analyses, summarize results, conduct simulations, perform biostatistical literature reviews, and support the day-to-day work of the research team.
  • Consult with and train team members in the use of R, SAS, Stata, or other statistical software (e.g., Mplus) as well as statistical methodology.
  • Write statistical reports for clinical studies and manuscripts.
  • Participate in and present at regular seminars and meetings, as well as internal and external conferences.
  • Collaborate with faculty members and trainees in epidemiology, biostatistics, and medicine on study design and statistical plans for grants and pilot studies.
  • Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts, conference presentations, grant proposals, and technical reports, including drafting methods and results sections and developing data visualizations.
  • Ensure reproducibility and transparency in analytic workflows through version control, thorough documentation, and code review.
