Sr. Data Analyst | Canada | Remote
About The Position
The Senior Data Analyst will join Sutherland Healthcare Solutions’ Enterprise Data and Analytics team and turn complex scientific and operational data into clear, actionable intelligence. The role leads analytical solutions that illuminate key performance indicators, reveal trends, and support strategic decisions. It partners with stakeholders to map business processes, align data solutions with operational needs, and conduct deep-dive analyses to address high-value challenges. The position is based in Canada and is remote. The analyst works with cross-functional engineering, product, and business partners to deliver data and analytics solutions supporting research and development. The work includes requirements gathering, process and data flow documentation, data profiling and validation, user acceptance testing, and communicating analytical results in a clear, user-friendly manner.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience writing complex SQL queries, data mining, data profiling, and data validation/testing.
- At least 5 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or Data Analyst specializing in Data & Analytics.
- At least 5 years of experience organizing and running user acceptance testing cycles and training business users and stakeholders.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or MicroStrategy.
- Experience working in an Agile software development methodology.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including creative approaches to challenges.
- Ability to understand complex datasets and maintain strong attention to detail.
- Ability to translate requirements into well-written user stories that bridge business and technology.
- Strong business mindset and ability to collaborate with business partners to identify needs and opportunities for improved data management and delivery.
- Ability to connect the big picture with areas requiring deeper analysis to support sound solutions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Must be based in Canada.
Nice To Haves
- A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or Computer Science.
- Experience in the life science or biotechnology industry.
- Experience in a senior or lead Business Systems Analyst or Data Analyst role.
Responsibilities
- Analyze complex scientific datasets to uncover insights and support strategic initiatives.
- Map business process rules to ensure data solutions align with operational realities.
- Develop solutions that provide visibility into key performance indicators and metrics.
- Conduct deep-dive analyses and support evidence-based recommendations.
- Engage business stakeholders to identify requirements for current and future products.
- Lead requirements workshops and user acceptance testing for new data, products, and analytics solutions.
- Analyze business processes and create business flow diagrams and data flow diagrams for system design and optimization.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to support alignment and successful delivery.
- Perform data profiling, data mining, and data validation and testing to ensure data is fit for business use.
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses and present results clearly and accessibly.
- Build collaborative, trusting business relationships.
