About The Position

The University of Oklahoma is seeking a Senior Data Analyst for the department of Institutional Research & Reporting. This group is responsible for providing accurate information about OU to various stakeholders. This position is part of a core team that designs, maintains, and analyzes institutional data sets. The role specifically focuses on the design and integrity of HR data sets, building custom tables and analyses for standard and ad hoc reporting. Key responsibilities include performing data quality checks, monitoring reporting norms, maintaining subject-matter expertise in HR data, and partnering with other offices to track coding standards. The analyst will also develop and maintain metadata and supporting documentation, consult on calculation methodologies, and stay current on federal, state, and national reporting standards to ensure accurate data design. This position acts as a primary troubleshooting resource for data anomalies and system usage changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 48 months experience as a Data Analyst or in a related field.
  • Will accept 48 months data analysis, business analysis experience in lieu of the Bachelor’s Degree for a total of 96 months experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, Statistics or related field.
  • 48 months experience in institutional research or comparable data analysis activity.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have good proofreading and composition skills.
  • Must be able to produce reports and complete work within deadlines.
  • Must have advanced Excel skills, including experience with formulas and pivot tables.
  • Proficient in use of SAS, SQL, or other Oracle query tool(s).
  • Proficient in use of Snowflake.
  • Must have intermediate research skills and experience with data analysis techniques.
  • Must be highly organized and able to handle multiple projects.
  • Must be able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with staff.
  • Must have strong initiative to solve problems.
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manages master datasets, including creation, updates, commissioning, and decommissioning across enterprise systems.
  • Designs and manages the reporting environment, including data sources, security, and metadata.
  • Advises stakeholders on data warehouse reporting requirements and revisions.
  • Troubleshoots the reporting database environment and resolves complex data issues.
  • Leads data integrity and normalization initiatives across institutional systems.
