Senior Data Analyst, Clinical Program Evaluation and Data Science - Hopkins, MN
About The Position
The Senior Data Analyst supports the Evaluation and Data Science team within UHC Clinical Services, which conducts impact evaluations of clinical programs. The team evaluates programs to improve health outcomes, enhance member experience, and promote responsible use of resources. It analyzes data to inform business cases and leads evaluations across lines of business. The role focuses on creating analytic datasets for clinical program evaluations, identifying and assessing relevant data sources, and advancing approaches to data storage, access, and analysis. The position is office-based in Hopkins, Minnesota, four days per week. The role also supports data platform transitions, data standardization, and evaluation-related analysis.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in data processing, including data retrieval, cleaning, and manipulation, using at least one of SQL, SAS, or Python.
- Intermediate SQL experience.
- At least 3 years of experience supporting health services, health care economics, epidemiology, or outcomes research.
- At least 3 years of experience with administrative claims data, EHR/EMR data, or complex relational databases.
- Proficiency in executing multi-step data management and analysis tasks, including creating data dictionaries and specification documents from research protocols.
Nice To Haves
- Experience using large administrative claims assets from health plans or payers.
- Experience developing analytic plans and protocols.
- Knowledge of cloud-based software and platform services such as Snowflake and Azure.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in project design and interpretation.
Responsibilities
- Support the Evaluation and Data Science Team and UHC Clinical Services as a data and programming expert.
- Extract data from a variety of sources, primarily administrative claims, and use SAS or SQL to program analytic datasets.
- Support standardization efforts by creating and documenting standard programs to improve efficiency and quality.
- Stay informed about company data migrations and help the team transition data platforms as needed.
- Explore new data sources, assess their completeness and quality, compare them with legacy sources, and identify gaps or inconsistencies.
- Share knowledge of data, programming, and technology advancements through presentations, documentation, and collaborative discussions.
- Conduct analyses to inform data dictionaries, analytic files, and evaluation efforts.
