About The Position

As the Senior Data Analyst in Finance Analytics, you will provide critical analytical support to Accounting, SEC Reporting, and Investor Relations, owning key data workflows and metrics that underpin Etsy’s quarterly and annual earnings process and related external reporting. This is a full-time position reporting to the Director, Forecasting and Business Insights. This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub may be the first to be considered.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in analytics and/or finance, with experience working directly on financial reporting, earnings, or SEC/IR-adjacent workflows.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and data visualization (e.g., Looker, BigQuery) and comfort working with complex, large-scale financial datasets.
  • Demonstrated ability to own critical recurring workflows (e.g., SEC/earnings data prep) while also driving project-based analyses with minimal oversight.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to partner closely with Accounting, IR, and cross-functional teams and to tell a clear, concise data story for executive audiences.
  • Intellectual curiosity and high energy level with a hands-on approach combined with the ability to provide leadership and structure in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Firm grasp of GAAP; familiarity with e-Commerce and technology is a plus.
  • Experience communicating insights to senior executives verbally, visually, and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Support quarterly and annual earnings cycles by building, maintaining, and validating core data pipelines, queries, and dashboards used by Accounting and Investor Relations for SEC filings and investor communications.
  • Create and maintain metrics and analyses that translate raw financial and operational data into clear, decision-ready insights for Finance leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Lead high-impact special projects and ad-hoc analyses that address complex, cross-functional financial questions (e.g., methodology questions, metric changes, data quality issues) while ensuring consistency with accounting and reporting standards.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into executive-level narratives, including clear “so what”s and tradeoffs for senior stakeholders involved in earnings, forecasting, and integrated reporting.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., SEC Accounting, ESG/Impact, IR, audit, and vendors) to align on definitions, resolve data issues, and ensure metrics used in filings and impact reports tie back to trusted data sources.
  • Coordinate and collaborate closely with the partner-team Strategic Finance leads, other finance functions (Accounting, Tax, Investor Relations, Corporate Development) to develop models and deliver insights.
  • Develop meaningful analytics and reporting for our Executive leaders.
