Senior Cybersecurity Solutions Architect (NYC)

Bloomberg•New York, NY
•$190,000 - $260,000

About The Position

Bloomberg’s Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC) monitors systems and networks for suspicious activity and leads containment and response when incidents are confirmed. The Process & Technology Optimization (PTO) team designs, builds, and integrates process and technology solutions that help CSOC functions improve and scale. In this role, you will understand CSOC teams’ evolving challenges, pursue ambitious improvements, and implement innovative solutions for cybersecurity operations. You will own one or more areas of CSOC’s technology and process landscape, such as Network Security, EDR, Cloud, AI, or Telemetry. You will manage and integrate vendor products, represent CSOC to external stakeholders, identify systemic operational issues, and establish repeatable best practices. You will work closely with CSOC functions to identify operational challenges and measurable opportunities for improvement, then design, prioritize, and implement scalable solutions. Depending on the solution, this may involve code, low-code/no-code platforms such as SOAR, or coordination with engineering and vendors. You will also mentor colleagues and oversee technical solutions to ensure quality and timely delivery.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in engineering, systems design, or a cybersecurity operations center role such as analyst, detection engineer, security engineer, or incident responder.
  • Experience with data storage and retrieval systems such as SIEM, databases, or data lakes.
  • Ability to analyze complex processes and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Ability to quickly understand new technologies and products.
  • Experience with or exposure to automation and low-code/no-code platforms such as SOAR.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships or driving delivery through external engineering or product teams.
  • Ability to break complex technical and operational problems into component parts.
  • Creative and strategic problem-solving mindset, with motivation to pursue ambitious improvements.
  • Curious, inquisitive listening and clear, concise written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to acquire key context and share it effectively with team members.
  • Experience providing feedback, coaching, or mentorship.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 7 years of experience working in or with a cybersecurity operations center as an analyst, detection engineer, security engineer, or incident responder.
  • At least 7 years of experience as a security engineer supporting or designing cybersecurity operations systems, particularly EDR, Threat Intelligence Platforms, Email Analysis, Malware Sandboxing, Network Intrusion Detection, or Data Loss Prevention.
  • Python or scripting skills sufficient to build custom integrations or extend automation platforms beyond built-in capabilities.
  • Experience protecting cloud infrastructure (IaaS, PaaS, or SaaS), operating cloud-based security tooling, or applying GenAI to security use cases.

Responsibilities

  • Own areas of CSOC’s technology and process landscape, managing and integrating vendor products and ensuring implementation and oversight align with the vision.
  • Represent CSOC to external stakeholders and manage vendor relationships or delivery through external engineering and product teams.
  • Identify systemic cybersecurity operations issues, document potential solutions, and align with management on enterprise priorities.
  • Formalize and share best practices to make security operations repeatable.
  • Pilot and evaluate emerging technologies for practical adoption.
  • Mentor and guide PTO and broader CSOC staff, helping colleagues develop skills and take on greater ownership.
  • Engage with CSOC functions, including Event Analysis, Threat Hunting, Incident Response, Detection Engineering, and Threat Intelligence, to understand operational challenges.
  • Identify opportunities to improve analyst speed, capabilities, and coverage through automation, technology, controls, or processes.
  • Collect and surface measurable data and metrics from PTO-managed products to enable data-driven improvement.
  • Design and prioritize scalable, robust, and innovative process and technology solutions.
  • Validate and adapt user-originated solutions to align with the broader vision and appropriate execution and maintenance approach.
  • Design, build, and maintain internal products using code or low-code/no-code options such as SOAR when appropriate.
  • Design tooling and processes that provide CSOC teams with the information they need at the right time, using direct product access when other approaches are impractical.
  • Oversee technical solution development and implementation to ensure quality standards and project timelines are met.
