About The Position

The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer designs and implements medium-scale security systems and solutions to develop or enhance existing security capabilities, solving moderate to complex problems and enhancements. The role also handles day-to-day support activities and special projects. Depending on the assigned cybersecurity function, the work may involve data loss prevention, detection, identity and access, security and network infrastructure, protection, or cloud engineering. The position partners primarily with individual contributors and leaders in Cybersecurity and Technology, and occasionally with senior Cybersecurity leaders. The engineer determines and develops approaches to solutions, working with periodic alignment check-ins and limited direction. Work is evaluated upon completion to confirm objectives have been met. The role requires proficient use of multiple cybersecurity tools relevant to its function and has no supervisory responsibilities. The role is based in Clanton, Alabama. The stated national annual pay range is $97,100 to $161,800; the applicable range may vary by location, and individual compensation depends on the candidate’s knowledge, skills, and experience.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of relevant work experience, or, in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years of higher education and/or work experience.
Proficient ability to use multiple cybersecurity tools specific to the assigned function.

Responsibilities

Design components of security solutions with significant complexity and moderate risk, aligned with cybersecurity objectives and organizational needs.
Configure and develop controls for security tools or systems to strengthen system defenses.
Design and execute thorough system and technology testing in coordination with cross-functional teams.
Deploy security systems and code, integrating them with existing infrastructure while minimizing disruption.
Monitor and tune security systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness in detecting and mitigating threats.
Develop and implement automated installation, configuration, and processes to streamline security operations and response activities.
Partner with Cybersecurity and Technology teams on security solution implementation and maintenance.
Recommend process enhancements and implement prioritized improvements within the Cybersecurity team.
Work with vendors on routine security product or solution support.
Follow company risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the company’s Risk Appetite.
Design, implement, maintain, and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk; identify risk-related issues requiring escalation to management.
Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points and applicable issues raised by external regulators.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
