About The Position

This position will provide support for desktops, printers, networked devices, and other computing efforts by the Administrative Information Technology Services team. This position will also assist the Cross Function IT Support Supervisor with monitoring servers, technology deployment, and system administration responsibilities. This position will have direct day-to-day coordination with vendors working in conjunction with the department IT infrastructure. This position will be directly involved with deploying and supporting desktops and users. This position will serve in an operational capacity for systems provisioned by AITS that will provide resources to the campus. community.

Requirements

Associate's degree in related field and four years of related computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.
Knowledge of principles of computing and communications networks, and characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed environment.
Ability to operate computer keyboards and to install computer hardware.
Ability to assimilate, retain and utilize technical and application-oriented information.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge and experience with application and package preparation and deployment using SCCM, JAMF or Group Policy.
Knowledge and experience creating and deploying Windows system images using SCCM (or OSD, etc.).
Knowledge and experience with Windows Server operating systems.
Practical experience with scripting and automation techniques on Windows and/or Mac OS X (Linux) platforms.
Strong working knowledge of database concepts, including SQL querying and report building.
Considerable experience developing both technical and end-user support documentation.
Prior experience with designing and deploying audiovisual and collaborative technologies.
Knowledge of PCI compliance.
Experience supporting and working with vendor supplied software applications.
Experience collaborating with cross campus departments in a higher education environment.
Candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Provide device support and management for systems within the supported area.
Proactively address issues and respond to connectivity failures in a prompt manner.
Provide desktop support, IT deployment service, and enduser training for area of responsibility.
Build new desktops according to AITS standards.
Monitor warranty status to keep departments apprised for lifecycle planning.
Assist the Cross Funct IT Support Manager with backup restores, server maintenance, and IT planning.
Assist the Cross Funct IT Support Manager with Active Directory and Group Policy.
Fulfill operational documentation duties for servers, desktops, and other devices within the support spectrum of the primary duties of this position.
Keep the Cross Funct IT Support Manager appraised on all the operational documentation changes by ensuring the availability of said documentation.
Assist the Cross Funct IT Support Manager in ensuring proper firewall and security operations for all systems within the primary area.
Follow best practices guidelines to ensure security of all IT assets, including immediate installation of highly critical security patches or ensuring that proper workarounds are implemented.
Work with the ITSS Information Security team to ensure proper security procedures.
Study current trends and complete assigned trainings.
Ensure special project and nonrecurring assignments are carried out in professional and expeditious manner and with an acceptable level of quality, working with other internal teams and vendor support as necessary for a successful implementation.
Other projects/tasks/duties as assigned by the Cross Funct IT Support Manager, or Director of IT Support.
Provide environmental/AV device support and management.
