About The Position

As a Senior Credit Officer, you will be responsible for approving, administering, and reviewing loans and loan commitments to ensure adherence to existing policy guidelines and adequate documentation for collateral security, acting as a "first line of defense" within the Bank’s Credit Risk Management framework. You will oversee primary credit portfolio management and reporting activities consistent with the Bank’s policies and procedures. A key responsibility is to build relationships with account officers by assisting in analyzing, underwriting, and managing credits, as well as supporting the Credit Administration team by expediting their prescreening, underwriting, and approval process. You will be responsible for supporting the Chief Credit Officer by reviewing large and complex loans prior to submission to CCO. You will communicate with CCO on deal pipeline, portfolio issues, and any other material matters. You will consistently apply good decision-making techniques pertaining to inquiries, approvals, and requests as they apply to existing policies and procedures, keeping within assigned approval limits and using these instances as learning tools for employee development. You will assist in reviewing and updating credit policies and procedures. You will assure compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations. You will review legal documents to ensure accuracy and consistency with approved terms and conditions. You will perform periodic assessments of concentration limits and concentration risk to the local economy and periodic local economic analysis. You will assist with the preparation and review of quarterly portfolio reviews. You will oversee the loan grading process to ensure loans are properly risk-rated. You will assist in workout credits assigned to the department and prepare LAPSR’s for criticized loans, as well as preparing monitoring reports for Watch credits. You will assist Loan Officers in the management of weak credits. You will perform post-mortems on charged-off loans. You will update and correspond with legal counsel and collectors on workouts, bankruptcies, and charge-offs to ensure all possible precautionary actions or measures are taken. You will work directly with the Bank’s overall Portfolio Credit Risk Management function, providing data inputs, quality control correction and feedback, dashboard reporting, and execution of corporate efforts surrounding Credit Portfolio Stress Testing, Dual Risk Rating procedures, concentration management, and related Portfolio Credit Risk Management processes. You will lead and develop a team, being responsible for hiring, coaching, performance management, training, and development.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Previous leadership experience required
  • Expert knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services
  • Expert knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices
  • Expert speaking and writing communication skills
