Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in: (Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or Related Business Discipline)
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in commercial credit analysis or corporate credit.
  • Strong understanding of financial statement analysis
  • Experience evaluating commercial credit risk
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience utilizing ERP systems and credit reporting services
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer financial statements, credit reports, payment histories, and industry trends to determine appropriate credit exposure
  • Evaluate new customer credit applications and establish initial credit limits.
  • Review and adjust existing customer credit limits based on financial performance, payment behavior, and changing market conditions
  • Assess overall portfolio risk and recommend strategies to minimize bad debt exposure.
  • Monitor customers for deteriorating financial conditions and proactively recommend risk mitigation strategies
  • Perform detailed analysis of: Balance Sheets; Income Statements; Cash Flow Statements; Working Capital; Liquidity Ratios; Debt Structure
  • Interpret financial data to identify strengths, weaknesses, and potential credit risks
  • Prepare comprehensive credit recommendations for management approval
  • Monitor customer credit exposure across multiple business units
  • Review aging reports and identify high-risk accounts
  • Partner with Collections to resolve payment issues while maintaining positive customer relationships
  • Recommend holds, release of orders, payment plans, or revised credit terms when appropriate
  • Assist in reducing Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) while supporting revenue growth
  • Partner closely with: Sales; Operations; Customer Service; Accounting; Executive Leadership
  • Provide guidance to sales teams regarding customer credit decisions
  • Balance customer service objectives with sound financial risk management
  • Support strategic account opportunities by evaluating financial risk and recommending appropriate credit structures.
  • Assist in developing and improving credit policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with company credit policies and applicable financial regulations
  • Recommend process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce financial risk
  • Participate in system enhancements related to credit management and reporting
  • Prepare periodic reports on: Credit exposure; Portfolio performance; Customer risk trends; Bad debt reserves; Credit limit utilization
  • Present findings and recommendations to Finance leadership
  • Develop meaningful KPIs to monitor portfolio health and credit performance
