About The Position

The Credit Analyst and Sensitive Risk Manager proactively manages a portfolio of buyers by gathering the appropriate level of information and assessing buyers according to defined targets (manual grading). This role involves managing a profitable portfolio of business within agreed parameters, performing financial and credit analysis, conducting buyer visits or interviews, monitoring high-risk buyers, and communicating with internal and external stakeholders. The expert is responsible for devising and executing a rigorous risk monitoring plan, identifying deteriorating risk or buyers at risk of default, recommending appropriate risk underwriting strategies, and applying risk reduction and mitigation strategies. They also ensure efficient communication with buyers and policyholders to support the identified risk strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Economics or Finance, MBA preferred.
  • 4-7 years’ experience in financial management experience in banking, credit insurance brokerage or a credit insurance environment.
  • Excellent computer skills, with an understanding of financial software and spreadsheet packages.
  • Excellent understanding of Financial Statements.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Interpersonal skills in high-level business meetings, both internally and externally.
  • Exceptional written communication skills.
  • Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Effective at time management.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Credit knowledge and experience with high volume risk analysis and underwriting.
  • Market knowledge of the local economic environment.
  • Expertise on a particular region and/or trade sector.
  • Strong skills in financial analysis; very good knowledge of Finance and Credit Management.
  • Expertise and experience in buyer assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a profitable portfolio of business within the parameters agreed upon with the Regional Director of Information and grading, utilizing sound credit analysis techniques.
  • Perform financial and credit analysis to determine the appropriate credit rating of the company being analyzed.
  • Conduct buyer visits or telephone interviews to obtain critical information for the monitoring of the buyer's portfolio.
  • Monitor high-risk buyers and solicit proprietary information for the EHNA database by establishing a rapport and maintaining contact with Finance Directors and treasurers, through visits and telephone and written correspondence.
  • Utilize all information available to arrive at consistent grading of buyers within authority and make detailed recommendations to the Manager and/or Regional Director when outside authority.
  • Communicate with Sales Agents and Commercial Underwriters and/or customers to underwriting requirements regarding industry outlooks and target markets.
  • Responsible for the creation of industry sector outlooks (from both public and proprietary information) to determine underlying market trends.
  • Devise and execute in a rigorous manner the risk monitoring plan (review dates, actions follow-up, updates…), taking care of periodic spot-on and accurate reports to internal and external stakeholders and undertaking necessary follow-up actions and their execution.
  • Monitoring, alerting, and making proposals to improve the earliest possible identification of deteriorating risk or buyers at risk of default.
  • Recommending the appropriate risk underwriting strategy on a specific buyer to minimize default but optimize customer satisfaction.
  • On a case-by-case basis, identify and apply the best possible risk reduction and mitigation strategy.
  • Undertaking efficient and swift communications with both buyers and policyholders to ensure consistency of the message in support of the identified risk strategy.
