About The Position

This is a technical, analytical, and research position in support of research and statistical programs within the State Courts System. This position is responsible for data acquisition, preparation, quality, and analysis. This position will serve as both team leader and team member on a variety of projects. The position is responsible for assisting end users in transmitting and receiving data, troubleshooting issues with transmitting and receiving data, performing complex statistical analysis for the certification of new judgeships, and assisting in the preparation of dashboards. This position creates, analyzes, and validates research datasets in a SAS and SQL environment. This position assists in the Summary Reporting System, Uniform Case Reporting, and Uniform Data Reporting audits. This position is also responsible for research support to the Supreme Court, court committees, and the OSCA management team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, statistics, social sciences, or a closely related field, and four years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge and ability to process data.
  • Knowledge of and ability to conduct specialized statistical analyses including ARIMA univariate Box-Jenkins modeling.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply statistical procedures and principles such as descriptive statistics, time series, and hypothesis testing.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use desktop applications including Word, Excel, SQL, Tableau, and SAS (or comparable software applications).
  • Skill at evaluating the statistical requirement for projects and information requests and in making recommendations to consultants and team leaders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with judges, trial court administrators, clerks of court, and other criminal justice stakeholders.
  • Ability to appraise the quality of statistical data and databases.
  • Ability to present the results of complex statistical analysis in a manner that can be understood by laypersons.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with persons requesting data to determine information needs.
  • Ability to plan and organize assignments and projects.
  • Submit a complete and accurate application profile, which includes essential information such as dates of service, reasons for leaving, and other qualifications.
  • Ensure that all employment history and detailed information about work experience are included in the application. This should encompass military service, self-employment, job-related volunteer work, internships, and any other relevant experiences, along with explanations for any employment gaps.

Responsibilities

  • Project lead in performing essential Uniform Case Reporting data processing tasks such as data submissions processing, quality analysis, and issue tracking.
  • Provide technical assistance to data custodians in handling court data submission and reporting issues including quality and process monitoring.
  • Use court case filings to develop suitable statistical models applying Box-Jenkins ARIMA techniques. Project a three-year trend in case filings during the judicial certification process for presentation to the Supreme Court in certifying additional judgeships.
  • Assist in the development of statistical databases, preparation of statistical tables and graphs, and analyze data in support of the supreme court and the Office of the State Courts Administrator research initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain applications and platforms to support the visual display of court activity data including dynamic reporting and web dashboards.
  • Create 508 compliant web pages for publication on the Statistical and Uniform Case Reporting web pages.
