About The Position

Tyson & Mendes is growing its Los Angeles practice and is seeking an experienced litigator to join Partner Julee Fritsch Earley's team. The practice focuses on landlord tenant and habitability litigation, along with general liability and personal injury matters. This role offers an opportunity to leverage existing experience, take ownership of cases, and receive mentorship from an experienced partner. The firm is actively expanding its capabilities in habitability claims, landlord tenant disputes, premises liability, general negligence, and personal injury. Attorneys from plaintiff or defense backgrounds are encouraged to apply, with a particular value placed on experience in landlord tenant or habitability litigation. The firm utilizes modern tools and methodologies, including the APEX methodology and Trial Academy, to support attorneys in achieving excellent results and stopping nuclear verdicts. The role is remote, with a focus on responsiveness, communication, and excellent work, rather than a fixed physical location.

Requirements

JD from an ABA approved school
Must be licensed in the State of California
8+ years of solid litigation experience, specifically with litigation support, deposition and trial preparation
Ability to manage full case handling responsibilities, including all facets of discovery and trial
Experience with time management systems
Proficiency in MS Suite, specifically Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
Ability to think and act independently and with minimal supervision
Outstanding listening, verbal and written communication skills
Professional appearance and demeanor

Nice To Haves

Experience handling insurance defense matters preferred
Landlord tenant or habitability experience is particularly valuable
Plaintiff attorneys are encouraged to apply
Attorneys coming from plaintiff habitability, real estate litigation, personal injury, elder abuse, nursing home litigation, or other substantive civil practices may be a strong fit.

Responsibilities

Develop a case theme that is more compelling than any plaintiff ploy for sympathy or anger
Refuse to accept mediocrity, the average, the standard or the norm in anything
Independently handle court appearances, depositions, briefs and trials
Work as part of a team with all levels of experiences
Routine communications with clients
Cultivate relationships with the firm’s existing and future clients
Provide leadership and direction with respect to less experienced attorneys

Benefits

Base salary ranging from $160,000-$190,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications
Annual billable hours bonus ranging from $10,000 and then aggregating with $7,500 for every additional tier
