About The Position

The company’s pipeline features several promising candidates, and its team is passionate about scientific excellence, collaboration, and patient impact. RayzeBio seeks a patent attorney to assist in developing global IP strategies and managing day to day intellectual property efforts to support multiple programs in pre-clinical/clinical development. The desired candidate will be responsible for a wide range of intellectual property related matters with an emphasis on patent preparation, prosecution, and strategic counseling.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of small-molecule patent prosecution experience, preferably in pharmaceuticals, and a mix of law firm and in-house experience is preferred
  • Registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office
  • Juris doctor and admission to practice law in any US state or the District of Columbia, admission in California preferred
  • Degree in chemistry (advanced degree or industry experience with radiopharmaceutical or peptide chemistry is preferred)
  • Experience in patent drafting, U.S. and foreign prosecution, management of global IP portfolios, and IP due diligence
  • Ability to independently oversee legal matters, instruct and work with other patent professionals, manage the use of outside legal counsel, and work collaboratively with research and business leads

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive IP legal support for small molecule radiotherapy programs
  • Develop and implement advanced IP strategies to protect BMS's innovations and support business goals.
  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications, including drafting, filing, and managing responses to office actions on a global level.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration efforts working closely with R&D, regulatory, commercial, and other departments to achieve project milestones.
  • Reviewing and approving scientific and clinical publications
  • Advising internal clients on a wide range of intellectual property related matters
  • Conducting strategic IP analysis and due diligence, including analyzing third-party patent portfolios
  • Perform freedom to operate and patentability analysis
  • Communicate and align with external collaborators and strategic partners on global IP strategy
  • Providing transactional support for intellectual property matters related to clinical trial agreements, licenses, and
  • Manage the use of outside legal counsel globally
