About The Position

The Senior Cost Accountant supports and advances cost accounting processes, including standard cost maintenance, cost roll activities, and financial reporting within JD Edwards (JDE). The role partners with IT and Operations to ensure accurate cost data while increasing involvement in process improvement and ownership over time. This is a hybrid position with three days in the office and two days working from home. It reports to the Controller and has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3–5 years of cost accounting experience.
Strong understanding of standard costing and variance analysis.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Advanced Excel skills.

Experience with the JD Edwards (JDE) ERP system.

Responsibilities

Prepare and review journal entries related to cost, inventory, and other areas as needed.
Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances.
Support month-end close and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of standard costs across branch plants.
Validate updates to bills of materials (BOMs), routings, and cost components.
Partner with IT to analyze cost discrepancies and improve execution.
Collaborate with IT on system configuration and costing-related enhancements.
Identify and support improvements to cost processes and data accuracy.
Develop an understanding of system-driven cost flows and dependencies.
Act as a liaison between Accounting, IT, and Operations for cost-related issues.
Collaborate with the Supply Chain Manager to provide insights on cost variances and trends.
Complete special projects as assigned.
