About The Position

Amazon is looking for a talented attorney to support its rapidly growing and evolving payments businesses. The role involves serving as the primary attorney responsible for counseling the business on a broad range of commercial and regulatory matters in the payments and financial services space. The attorney will work directly with the business, providing commercial and regulatory counsel on key strategic initiatives, offering day-to-day advice, resolving issues in existing commercial relationships, and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.

Requirements

• 10+ years of post bar admission legal experience
• Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
• Experience in technology and commercial transactions or businesses
• Experience with financial services, payments or e-commerce

Nice To Haves

• Experience working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization or equivalent
• Experience working independently and directly with all levels of legal and business partners or equivalent
• Experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts
• Experience with payments regulatory frameworks
• Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth technology environment

Responsibilities

• Structuring novel payments and financial services programs
• Interacting with financial regulators
• Supporting regulatory compliance functions in the US and internationally
• Providing ongoing legal counseling in a wide range of legal areas
