We are looking for a Senior Corporate Accountant to join our Corporate-Finance team in Calgary, AB. Reporting to the Senior Manager- Financial Reporting. The Senior Corporate Accountant is responsible for key components of the financial reporting cycle, including the preparation of the consolidated financial statements and other reports applicable to a public company. The role will also assist in Month/Quarter end accounting closing process and participate in adhoc projects such as the implementation of new accounting standards.

Requirements

  • Designated accountant or CPA student.
  • 5- 6 years of post-designation experience.
  • A solid understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”).
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office tools, particularly Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge about Yardi Software would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, including note disclosures, management discussion and analysis (MD&A), and the annual information form (AIF).
  • Prepare corporate accounting entries and balance sheet reconciliations, as applicable, to facilitate the month-end and quarter-end close processes and assist in any enquires or complex matters of accounting.
  • Participate in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports for management and the board of trustees on timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist in the annual audit and quarterly review process with the external and internal auditors, including responding to requests and questions.
  • Contribute to process improvements and automation efforts.
  • Assist leader in reviewing work of less experienced accountants and/or CPA students.
  • Manage ad-hoc projects and analysis, including the preparation of technical accounting memos to support complex transactions, participate and/or manage the implementation of new accounting standards (e.g. IFRS 18 Presentation and Disclosure in Financial Statements).
