About The Position

The Senior Corporate Accountant will assist with quarterly financial statements preparation, review data, and ensure financial compliance. This role is responsible for executing a variety of financial procedures, including quarter-end and year-end closings, bank reconciliations, general ledger entries, and cost transfers. This role will report to the controller and will include working with the financial leadership team to execute the consolidation and reporting of multiple entities on a standalone and consolidated basis. Activities will include accounting for various items, ad hoc assignment(s) and various operational accounting activities to help drive business activities. Looking for a motivated accountant to join a growing accounting department.

Requirements

  • A working understanding of GAAP required.
  • Three to five years of professional accounting experience, in a similar role required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field of study, required.
  • Capability to thrive in a deadline-oriented environment, delivering quality work within specified timeframes.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and collaborate effectively across various departments.
  • Strong team player with a proactive approach, adaptability, and the capacity to work harmoniously with diverse personalities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal instruction and supervision.
  • Exceptional organizational skills to maintain order and efficiency in tasks and workflows.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams, etc., with the ability to navigate and utilize these tools effectively within a network environment.
  • Constant mental alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail required.
  • Must be able to work independently, make decisions, and follow through on all assignments.
  • Must use creativity, independent judgment, and organizational and critical thinking skills to determine best method to accomplish desired results.
  • Must be able to plan and organize work.
  • Must possess strong organizational and computer use skills and have a high level of competency to read/write/speak English, interpret construction related documentation and communicate with coworkers.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional experience in the construction industry, or related industries preferred.
  • Experience with, and a working knowledge of accounting software, such as JD Edwards Enterprise One, or similar ERP software preferred.
  • Prior experience with percentage-of-completion accounting and financial statement preparation strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complete financial accounting activities for multiple entities, including quarterly job profit calculations, account reconciliations, accrual entries, and financial statement preparation.
  • Support Controller and Assistant Controller with annual financial audit and project-based contract compliance audits.
  • Coordinate and assist resolution of cost coding issues arising from accounts payable team.
  • Provide outstanding service through timely and effective follow-ups and communications with both internal and external customers.
  • Provide back-up to other accounting staff and cross-train in other accounting areas/activities.
  • Learn and serve as the backup to the main lead on banking activities which include daily cash and investment reporting and balancing, funding accounts, monitoring incoming payments, positive pay exception decision making, initiating wire transfers, and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Communicate cash receipts to stakeholders and apply payments.
  • Account for investment transactions monthly.
  • Support departmental projects and data requests as needed.
