AECOM•Dallas, TX
•$150,000 - $235,000•Remote

About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Data Center Senior Control System Designer to join its Buildings and Places group. The role designs automation and SCADA systems for mechanical and electrical systems on complex data center and mission-critical infrastructure projects worldwide. It is primarily remote and may be based in a variety of U.S. locations where AECOM has an office. Occasional, advance-scheduled travel may be required for client meetings, project milestones, onsite collaboration, or other business-critical activities. The position is hands-on and client-facing, with opportunities to work with global teams and advance professionally. The designer coordinates with mechanical, electrical, and ICT teams; develops control sequences, network architectures, points lists, basis-of-design documents, and technical specifications; and designs resilient operational technology networks. The role also verifies compliance with applicable codes and standards, coordinates designs across disciplines, manages changes to templated models, and works to project schedules and budgets.

  • Coordinate with electrical design teams on network architectures and points lists for electrical distribution and conditioning systems.
  • Coordinate with ICT design teams on structured Ethernet cabling interfaces to control panels and end devices.
  • Design resilient operational technology networks, including Ethernet and serial networks using wireless, fiber, and copper media.
  • Develop basis-of-design documentation for BAS, PLC, and PMS controllers, instrumentation, and software, including datasheets.
  • Develop and tailor Division 23 and 25 controls, instrumentation, and cybersecurity technical specifications in alignment with the basis of design.
  • Develop and tailor Division 26 power-monitoring specifications, coordinating with electrical teams on factory-mounted systems and compatibility with distribution equipment.
  • Apply knowledge of modern BAS, EPMS, and PLC protocols, including Modbus, BACnet, and EtherNet/IP, and specify their appropriate applications and network requirements.
  • Verify compliance with applicable U.S. codes and engineering standards and practices.
