Senior Content Writer, Engineering
About The Position
Hercules is looking for a senior or staff level Content Writer to work with our engineers to write technical content for our engineering blog. The role involves deep dives into engineering and research to write about the hardest technical challenges being solved, including the systems built, the decisions and tradeoffs behind them, what worked, what failed, and what was learned. The writer will also be responsible for finding new stories by spending time with engineers, reading internal documents, and exploring the product and codebase. A significant part of the role is publishing frequently, co-writing, and editing posts with the engineering team, transforming rough notes and technical drafts into excellent articles with supporting diagrams, code examples, and data. The company emphasizes a culture of shipping and iterating quickly.
Requirements
- Exceptional technical writing skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly, precisely, and usefully.
- Technical depth, including the ability to read code, understand system architecture, and follow discussions about infrastructure, databases, APIs, and AI systems.
- Ability to test code examples and explain engineering decisions.
- Strong interviewing skills to uncover detailed insights.
- Strong research and analytical rigor, including reading technical papers, interpreting benchmarks, and checking evidence.
- Editorial judgment to identify interesting and useful content for engineers.
- Ability to use diagrams, charts, and code examples to enhance understanding.
- AI native, utilizing AI to increase output speed and quality.
- Portfolio of excellent writing for an engineering audience.
