Yoto’s Content Team Content is at the heart of our business, and we have a dedicated team of children’s media specialists – with experience across publishing, music, education, rights, and audio production – who carefully consider every title that makes it into our library. We license existing audio from some of the biggest names in the world of kids’ entertainment (Paramount, Penguin Random House, Hasbro, Macmillan and more), and also develop and produce our own content as part of our Yoto Originals range.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in children’s editorial or media acquisition
  • Ease converting leads into deals and handling rights negotiations
  • Familiarity with contracts and legal publishing language
  • A demonstrable passion for audiobooks and a finger on the pulse of the current children's audiobook landscape
  • Exceptional English language communication skills
  • Extraordinarily organized, and able to juggle multiple projects at a time
  • Ability to take full ownership of your projects, and great at staying on top of your workload
  • Ability to work independently and also a great team player
  • Comfortable working across multiple software platforms such as Office Suite and Google Suite, Dropbox, Box, Slack, Monday.com , to name a few
  • Working in a fast-paced, constantly-changing environment makes you feel energized.

Nice To Haves

  • LatAm Spanish language skills would be highly desirable but not mandatory
  • Experience managing a small team
  • Familiarity with the educational market
  • Knowledge and working relationships with publishers across Canada

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and developing partnerships with publishers in North America.
  • Nurturing partnerships with our current Audiobook publishers.
  • Taking quarterly meetings with existing partners to discuss performance of their titles, upcoming releases, and future opportunities.
  • Liaising with publisher’s marketing teams to brainstorm opportunities for upcoming releases and backlist titles.
  • Submitting new initiatives for partners’ approval.
  • Keeping partners informed about Yoto’s catalog strategy, and gathering and sharing data about trends and needs in the kids’ audiobook space.
  • Acting as an ambassador for the Yoto brand in industry conferences.
  • Sourcing potential audiobook partners that will help diversify our North American portfolio.
  • Making strategic decisions about new additions and title renewals, with the goal of making Yoto the best audio platform for children.
  • Creating financial forecasts (P&Ls) for key acquisitions, and keeping track of sales numbers and other available data to report on the performance of existing catalog and identify gaps.
  • Negotiating all deal terms with partners, for new acquisitions as well as renewals.
  • Partnering with our legal team to ensure timely execution of contracts.
  • Making data-based and strategic decisions about which properties to pursue.
  • Working closely with Sr. Manager of Licensed Content and Head of Production to propose quarterly publication schedules a year in advance.
  • Working closely with the Content Coordinator to ensure timely delivery of all assets.
  • Approving all publisher royalty reports and managing stock reordering process for your titles.
  • Coordinating internal processes with different departments.
  • Working with the accounting team to ensure timely payment of invoices.
  • Proofreading for upcoming products.
  • General support for marketing initiatives.
  • Providing feedback for retail ranges when needed.
  • Creating presentations for the wider Yoto team about licensed audiobooks.
  • Liaising with Yoto’s Marketing and Commercial teams to ensure alignment on release schedule.
