About The Position

This role is part of the Content and Translation Chapter on the broader Experience Design & Enablement team, focusing on writing, editing, evaluating, and managing content for both employee and client-facing digital tools and platforms. You will collaborate closely with other Content Designers, Translators, UX Designers, Accessibility Consultants, UX Researchers, and cross-functional teams within active delivery sprints. The goal is to ensure our applications meet key business objectives while enabling the best experiences for our frontline users and clients. You will create content that aligns with CIBC’s voice and tone, brand guidelines, and accessibility standards. This role requires expertise in content planning, creation, and maintenance; user experience (UX) and conversational design principles; and stakeholder relations and executive presentation skills. Experience creating content for employee workflows and working on product teams in large financial institutions is highly desirable. CIBC offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing flexibility to manage work activities with 1-3 days per week on-site and other days remote.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in English, Journalism, Communications, Creative Writing, Technical Writing, UX Writing, Content Strategy (or related fields), or equivalent working experience.
  • Experience with writing and editing content for product flows that follows brand guidelines, meets WCAG standards, and supports strategic goals for clients and lines of business.
  • Familiarity with maintaining content style guides or content design systems.
  • Familiarity with Canadian Press (CP) style.
  • Strong understanding of content-creation strategies.
  • Critical thinking skills to inform decision-making.
  • Ability to share and present content design strategies effectively.
  • Digitally savvy, seeking innovative solutions, embracing evolving technologies, and adapting to new tools and trends.
  • Comfortable managing and prioritizing multiple initiatives.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with collaborative, cross-functional teams within agile workflows.
  • Comfortably use multiple tools in day-to-day work, including Confluence, JIRA, Figma, Mural, CIBC AI, and Microsoft 365.
  • Ability to coach and mentor junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, evaluate, and manage content for employee and client-facing digital tools and platforms.
  • Collaborate with Content Designers, Translators, UX Designers, Accessibility Consultants, UX Researchers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Create content that aligns with CIBC’s voice and tone, brand guidelines, and accessibility standards.
  • Apply expertise in content planning, creation, and maintenance.
  • Utilize user experience (UX) and conversational design principles.
  • Manage stakeholder relations and deliver executive presentations.
  • Leverage analytics, strategic business objectives, and research findings to create, update, and maintain meaningful content, especially microcopy, that guides users through tasks and complex flows.
  • Ensure content meets CIBC’s voice and tone, brand and digital/editorial guidelines, and accessibility requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Translation team to manage timelines and needs for overall content delivery.
  • Help maintain the content design system by suggesting updates to leadership.
  • Lead style guide reviews or drive content enhancements for supported products.
  • Complete content audits and share findings to recommend improvements.
  • Present content and strategies to product teams and stakeholders with authority, empathy, and clarity.
  • Enhance team collaboration with stakeholders, product owners, and squad members using various tools and resources to substantiate content recommendations.
  • Champion jargon-free plain language and advocate for both UX and a client-first approach.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple initiatives with excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Work with collaborative, cross-functional teams (developers, QA testers, business analysts, product owners, strategists, business partners) within agile workflows.
  • Use tools such as Confluence, JIRA, Figma, Mural, CIBC AI, and Microsoft 365 to create, manage, deliver, and share content.
  • Test new tools and technology and provide feedback.
  • Participate in user research sessions and assist the Research Chapter in gathering results for content recommendations.
  • Present or help assemble presentations for stakeholders highlighting proposed changes.
  • Assist in writing or editing video scripts to promote new features and enhancements.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members.
  • Contribute to a warm, friendly culture of writers and translators.
