About The Position

C.H. Robinson seeks the services of a Senior Container Platform Engineer based out of our U.S. headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN. This is a remote position whereby the employee must reside in and retain the ability to attend required meetings at a C.H. Robinson facility in the following U.S. states: MN, IL, and MO. As Senior Container Platform Engineer you will provide operational support for C.H. Robinson’s Kubernetes environment, both on-premises and in our Azure cloud. In this role, you will: effectively design, build, configure, and expose cloud native applications for Kubernetes; define application resources and use core primitives to build, monitor, and troubleshoot scalable applications and tools in Kubernetes; support the related technologies in the platform’s domain such as routing, monitoring, alerting, performance, and capacity planning; and work closely with and in conjunction with a U.S. based team, as well as other global team members, to deliver follow-the-sun support for the Kubernetes ecosystem. C.H. Robinson is a 24/7 Support Team supporting a global environment and as such, you may be asked to cover alterative shifts and be part of a weekly on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree, or its foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IS, MIS, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least three (3) years of experience developing open-source platforms for containerized workloads, including container engineering, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or related areas.
  • 1 year of experience architecting and maintaining multi-site deployments of Avi Load Balancer (NSX Advanced Load Balancer) in production environments.
  • 3 years of experience developing and managing Ansible playbooks specifically for Kubespray-based Kubernetes clusters, including lifecycle automation and cluster upgrades.
  • 3 years of experience executing large-scale application migrations across heterogeneous Kubernetes distributions (e.g., OpenShift to EKS, GKE to onprem), with minimal downtime and full observability.
  • 3 years of experience customizing and troubleshooting Kubernetes Container Network Interfaces (CNIs), with production-level experience in at least two of the following: Cilium, Calico, or Kubenet.
  • 3 years of experience with cost governance and performance tuning of Kubernetes workloads, including real-time monitoring, autoscaling strategies, and rightsizing compute resources across cloud and hybrid environments.

Responsibilities
