About The Position

UCSF Enterprise Strategy & Transformation (EST) seeks an exceptional professional to join our highly skilled and engaged team providing internal consulting services to our dynamic, mission-driven institution. The Senior Consultant provides expert project management services for internal projects, especially large technology system implementations. UCSF’s Enterprise Strategy and Transformation (EST) is an internal business advisory unit of skilled professionals who provide consulting services to UCSF Enterprise. EST works with central leaders, the schools, and department staff to implement both campus-wide and unit-specific operational improvements. EST consulting services include strategic planning, business process improvement, systems implementations, and organizational restructuring. EST provides these services leveraging skills in project management, group facilitation, change management, and Lean transformation. EST staff possess sound strategic thinking and consulting skills that guide the organization toward collaboratively identified, workable solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Independently uses and applies wide-ranging experience and proficiency in management consulting to deliver programs and projects in such areas as business process analysis, organizational change, and strategic planning; projects involve multiple organizations and stakeholders.
  • Uses advanced management consulting concepts to resolve complex initiatives and programs that drive management effectiveness.
  • Regularly works on or leads highly complex, strategic engagements where analysis of circumstances and information requires an in-depth evaluation of factors.
  • Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for developing solutions and obtaining results.
  • Exercises wide judgment in selecting and developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining appropriate operational, program, and initiative objectives.
  • Understands business needs, performs advanced analyses, and ensures that solutions, both technical and non-technical, can support those needs. Applies advanced management consulting concepts to perform highly complex technical analyses to understand past performance and determine present and future performance and/or resource allocations. Assesses complex situations, identifies desired improvements, and works with client executive and senior leaders, along with internal partners, to address issues, develop recommendations, and implement solutions in alignment with strategic goals and objectives.
  • Provides collaborative leadership and consultation, strategic planning, design and facilitation, and project management on multi-faceted problems to achieve strategically aligned solutions. Is usually the lead facilitator on projects. Applies advanced project management concepts with a full understanding of project management practices and procedures to manage complex projects. Has project management responsibility for small projects or pieces of large projects. Develops detailed project plans and monitors budget and resources. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel. Oversees the project from inception to delivery. May guide and advise less experienced management consultants.
  • In consultation with supervisor, establishes and manages project governance. Leads cross-functional teams to solve complex management-related issues.
  • Program Managers have strong program and project management reputations throughout the organization. In addition, SDLC project management knowledge and ability to balance technical with business acumen and emotional intelligence is essential.
