About The Position

The Senior Consultant I will provide technical expertise on project tasks to ensure quality services are delivered on schedule and within the available budget to meet customer requirements. This includes providing frequent updates to the project manager. As part of a project team, Senior Consultant I will maintain relationships with clients and key decision makers to help identify new business opportunities. This position will support multiple cybersecurity opportunities and engagements, not just one project. The role involves supporting multiple client engagements including NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF), Assessment and Authorization (A&A), security control implementation and validation, cyber compliance reviews and inspection support, vulnerability assessment, scanning, and remediation, and secure configuration, patching, and system hardening. The consultant will also prepare and maintain cybersecurity artifacts such as SSPs, POA&Ms, policies, procedures, risk documentation, and assessment support materials. They will review systems, architectures, and documentation against various cybersecurity requirements and develop relationships with existing customers to facilitate new business opportunities. The role also includes promoting ABS Consulting cybersecurity products and services through marketing activities, conference presentations, and technical whitepapers. While the position is remote, regular travel (50%+) to client sites and project locations is a core part of the role.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
5+ years of relevant professional experience.
Must have or be able to get and maintain an Active Security Clearance.
Ability to gain, retain, comprehend, and transfer knowledge to other members of the team.
Ability to mentor and coach less experienced consultants and support development of technical skills in others.
Ability to actively listen to client needs, determine context, ask probing questions, retain information for future use, and respond with practical solutions.
Ability to utilize established rapport and technical expertise with existing clients to facilitate development of new business.
Must understand departmental goals and hold self accountable for commitments and high standards.
Demonstrate strong time management skills.
Hands-on experience with NIST Risk Management Framework and NIST SP 800-53.
Experience supporting DoD assessment and authorization activities.
Experience with vulnerability assessment and scanning tools like Tenable Nessus, ACAS, or Security Center.
Understanding of TCP/IP networking and troubleshooting.
Experience with Windows and Linux security concepts, patching, and configuration management.
U.S. Citizenship required for roles supporting government contracts.

Nice To Haves

Professional certification preferred.
Familiarity with cybersecurity tools such as eMASS, HBSS, VRAM, DADMS, and TWMS preferred.
Experience with Python or PowerShell preferred.
Experience with Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), shipboard, afloat, Navy, MSC, or NAVSEA environments preferred.
Ability to obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System.

Responsibilities

Provide cybersecurity expertise on project tasks to ensure quality services are delivered on schedule and within available budget to meet customer requirements and provide frequent updates to the project manager.
Assist project manager with defining and sequencing project tasks, estimating task duration, and developing a project schedule as part of a project management plan.
Review project management plans to understand scope, schedule, and assigned work authorization.
Plan and schedule client meetings.
Participate in client and project team meetings.
Conduct research and data analysis, including customer or stakeholder analyses.
Prepare written documents, reports, and presentations.
Develop conclusions and recommendations, draft reports, and assist with client presentations.
Assist with oral presentations to clients.
Track and report hours spent executing projects.
Collaborate with individuals at all levels, provide input to reports and other deliverables, execute multiple assignments, meet agreed deadlines, and adjust to changing client demands.
Perform quality assurance on project deliverables.
Support multiple client engagements involving: NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF), Assessment and Authorization (A&A), Security control implementation and validation, Cyber compliance reviews and inspection support, Vulnerability assessment, scanning, and remediation, Secure configuration, patching, and system hardening, Technical documentation, briefings, and reporting.
Prepare and maintain cybersecurity artifacts such as SSPs, POA&Ms, policies, procedures, risk documentation, and assessment support materials.
Review systems, architectures, and documentation against NIST, DoD, DON, NAVSEA, MSC, and client-specific cybersecurity requirements.
Develop relationships with existing customers to facilitate development of new business opportunities for current and/or additional services.
Learn, understand, and be conversant in ABS Consulting cybersecurity products and services.
Meet with new and existing clients and actively listen to their needs.
Communicate client needs to project managers and supervisors, including emerging threats, regulatory changes, compliance drivers, and technology requirements.
Review published reports and news articles about existing and potential clients to identify customer intelligence.
Participate in proposal development, including writing proposals.
Represent ABS Consulting and participate in promoting our products and services.
Participate in marketing activities, conference presentations, and technical whitepapers.
Network to meet new potential clients.
