About The Position

Calgary Foothills Primary Care Network (PCN) is seeking an experienced, hands-on professional to provide governance and policy advice, analysis and implementation support across a range of organizational priorities. Working within a small, collaborative team, the Senior Consultant will contribute at every stage of the work, from assessing complex or evolving issues and developing practical recommendations to preparing board materials, coordinating governance processes, drafting policies and completing detailed follow-through. This role is well suited to someone who exercises sound judgement, brings structure to loosely defined work and is equally comfortable thinking critically and completing the detailed work needed to move priorities forward.

  • Strong project, meeting and committee coordination, facilitation and stakeholder-engagement skills
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with physicians, board and committee members, senior leaders, partners and colleagues
  • Willingness and ability to complete the detailed drafting, coordination, documentation and follow-up required to deliver results
  • Sound judgment, tact and discretion when handling sensitive information
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 and the ability to learn and work effectively with unfamiliar systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, governance, health administration, policy or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in governance, operations, policy, project delivery, business analysis, consulting or a comparable role
  • Demonstrated experience providing analysis, recommendations and implementation support on complex organizational issues
  • Experience independently progressing complex or loosely defined assignments from assessment through implementation
  • Experience preparing executive and/or board-level briefing notes, policies, proposals, reports, presentations or recommendations
  • Experience coordinating meetings, committees, projects or recurring corporate processes, including agendas, minutes, records and follow-up
  • Completion of a satisfactory criminal record check and/or Vulnerable Sector Search

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in primary health care, the broader health system, or the public or not-for-profit sector is an asset
  • Training in governance, change management, business analysis or policy development is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Provide governance research, analysis, advice and operational support to the Boards of Directors, committees and senior leadership
  • Prepare agendas, briefing notes, decision materials, presentations, minutes and other sensitive corporate records based on high-level direction
  • Coordinate board and committee activities, including timelines, meeting materials, decisions, action items, records and follow-up
  • Anticipate governance and information requirements, identify emerging issues or gaps and recommend, address or escalate them as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate, accessible and organized governance documents and records
  • Bring structure and clarity to assignments where the objectives, requirements or approach may not be fully defined
  • Conduct independent analysis to identify issues, risks, gaps, dependencies, root causes and opportunities
  • Synthesize information from multiple sources, identify key themes and develop concise, actionable recommendations for decision-makers
  • Present complex information clearly, including relevant background, analysis, risks, options, implications and recommended action
  • Draft and update policies, frameworks, procedures and supporting tools in collaboration with subject-matter experts
  • Identify duplication, inconsistencies and implementation barriers, and recommend practical improvements
  • Support the implementation, evaluation and continuous improvement of approved initiatives and changes
  • Lead or support assigned committees, small-to-medium projects and organizational initiatives from planning through implementation
  • Translate organizational priorities and decisions into practical workplans, timelines, deliverables, responsibilities and follow-up activities
  • Monitor progress, address barriers and escalate material risks or issues with a concise summary of implications and recommended action
  • Prepare reports, presentations, correspondence, templates, trackers and other materials required to support organizational priorities
  • Coordinate meetings, information requests and stakeholder follow-up while maintaining accurate records, action logs and workplans
  • Identify opportunities to streamline recurring processes and strengthen organizational effectiveness
  • Provide hands-on governance, policy and project support during periods of change, competing priorities or increased workload
  • Build productive working relationships with physicians, board and committee members, senior leaders, partners and colleagues
