About The Position

USAA is seeking a Data Policy and Regulatory Governance Lead to develop, implement, and manage enterprise data policies and standards that support regulatory compliance and sound data governance practices. This role involves translating complex regulatory requirements into actionable data policies, standards, controls, and governance practices. The position offers a flexible work environment requiring 4 days in the office per week and can be based in San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, or Charlotte, NC. Relocation assistance is not available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Architecture, Information Management, Information Studies, Information Technology, Risk, Audit or related technical field; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience; and 8+ years of experience in Information or Data related practices to include: information governance, information management, risk, audit, information architecture, IT, analysis and reporting, OR Advanced degree in Information Architecture, Information Management, Information Studies, Risk, Audit, Information Technology or a related technical field with 6+ years of experience in Information or Data related practices as noted above.
  • 2+ years of strong knowledge and demonstrated ability to create and evolve Data Development and Data Engineering processes.
  • 2+ years operational knowledge of risk management and mitigation frameworks.
  • Experience in developing Data Governance and Data Management Strategy, road maps.
  • Expert knowledge of industry information/data governance best practices.
  • Experience developing and delivering executive-level and/or board-level reporting related to data governance, regulatory risk, compliance, or policy adherence.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting, data controls, information risk, compliance, privacy, and audit readiness.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP), Information Governance Professional (IGP), Certified Information Professional or equivalent industry certification.
  • Financial services, insurance, banking, or other highly regulated industry experience.
  • CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) certification preferred.
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing management of enterprise data policies and standards.
  • Translate complex regulatory requirements and expectations into clear, actionable data policies, standards, controls, and governance practices.
  • Drive adherence to information/data management governance activities, projects, and approaches that are compliant with established policies and standards.
  • Influence and drive business awareness of information/data governance through work activities, consulting, and communication.
  • Author and/or be a key contributor to information governance guidelines, principles, policies, and standards.
  • Lead the development of information governance oversight processes, measurement approach, and enforce adherence to information management policies, standards, and capabilities through audits, peer reviews, and monitoring of KRIs and KPIs.
  • Influence, drive, and support the development of multi-year roadmaps and implementation plans for information governance initiatives.
  • Apply expert knowledge of various lines of business, channels, and their applications and processes to drive recommendations and satisfy regulatory and internal requirements related to information governance and data management.
  • Create information governance training content derived from internal and regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and establish learning objectives.
  • Prepare and present formal findings and recommendations in various formats to all levels of the organization and across the Association.
  • Enable success of USAA information governance discipline best practices by ensuring their inclusion within recommendations for information governance solutions.
  • Be sought as an Information Governance expert to facilitate career path, best practices, and mentoring, and grow the maturity of the Information Governance community.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
