As a Senior Consultant, Data Governance, you'll play a key role in helping clients embed governance and stewardship into their daily work. This is a hands-on role focused on executing governance activities, supporting metadata cataloging, and applying practical data quality controls. Just as important, this person will act as a communicator and facilitator—helping form working groups, align business and technical teams, and coach client staff on how to take ownership as data stewards.

Requirements

  • Senior Consultant, Data Governance role requires a modern perspective on the design and rollout of data governance.
  • Ability to communicate governance concepts in clear business language.
  • Experience preparing presentations, training materials, and adoption guides.
  • Experience facilitating data governance working groups to drive alignment between business and technology stakeholders.
  • Experience executing metadata management activities such as cataloging, lineage capture, and stewardship workflows.
  • Experience partnering with business teams to draft and maintain business rules, definitions, and data quality controls.
  • Experience applying data quality processes such as profiling, monitoring, and issue management.
  • Experience supporting the installation, configuration, rollout and adoption of governance/metadata tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Atlan, Purview).
  • Experience coaching client staff on data stewardship practices.
  • Experience providing input on access controls, privacy, and compliance with regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
  • Experience collaborating with data engineers, analysts, and business owners to embed governance into daily workflows, platform pipelines, modeling practices, and observability.
  • Experience installing and configuring metadata/catalog tools in client environments.
  • Experience building and curating catalogs, including ingestion of technical metadata, business glossaries, and lineage.
  • Experience defining user personas and designing role-appropriate experiences (data stewards, data owners, analysts, engineers).
  • Experience tailoring tool UX (workflows, dashboards, search optimization) to improve usability and adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design of tailored data governance programs, with recommendations on processes, team structure, decision rights and boundaries.
  • Design policies and controls for effective data governance execution.
