About The Position

The Senior Construction Project Manager is part of Equinix’s Global Design and Construction team, which delivers more than 70 projects globally each year. This role directs the day-to-day activities and operations of a team of Construction/Operation Project Managers, mentors junior team members, and makes tactical decisions to resolve project issues. It manages construction project costs, methods, and team selection to meet schedules and goals in a multifaceted environment.

The position is responsible for data center construction projects from inception through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover of an operating facility. Projects may include ground-up construction, fit-outs, and remodels, and the role may oversee one or more projects. The Project Manager directs internal partners—including Design, Procurement, Operations, Security, and IT/Network—and external vendors such as contractors, design teams, commissioning agents, and equipment suppliers. The role promotes a safe, quality-first culture; ensures compliance with applicable codes, standards, and sound construction practices; and maintains effective contract administration and internal controls throughout the project lifecycle.

The position is based in Hampton, Georgia, and requires daily presence in the office and/or on a job site.

Requirements

• Typically 10 or more years of construction project management experience, including critical infrastructure in data center, pharmaceutical, biotech, or similar environments.
• Demonstrated understanding of MEP technology in mission-critical environments.
• Must be able to work in the office and/or on a job site daily in Hampton, Georgia.
• Customer-focused.
• Self-motivated and flexible.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant statutory regulations and industry best practices.
• Experience with construction procurement methodologies.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering or construction project management, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple data center projects within a campus build at different stages of their life cycles.
• Lead by example in safety, standards, and culture.
• Manage and monitor project progress, quality, and compliance with building regulations.
• Ensure projects meet or exceed company expectations.
• Oversee and manage project risk registers.
• Lead internal stakeholders in developing new data center projects from concept through business approval.
• Direct external project vendors, including general contractors, architecture and engineering design teams, commissioning agents, and equipment suppliers.
• Help establish and maintain high-value vendor relationships.
• Manage contract administration, including the generation, review, and monitoring of prime contracts, subcontracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and related documentation.
• Liaise with local authorities and relevant state agencies and departments.
• Direct internal and external project team members, including Design, Procurement, Operations, Commercial, and IT/Network support teams.
• Mentor junior team members as needed.
• Manage the maintenance of policies and procedures.
• Ensure project closure, handover, and lessons-learned processes are established and implemented.
• Manage construction project costs, methods, and project team selection to meet schedules and goals.
• Promote adherence to internal controls throughout the project process.
