About The Position

ProSidian seeks a Senior Construction Material Engineer I | Construction Engineering (CDE) for Program Support on an Exempt Basis for Working On-Site (Client Site) in The Southeast | South Atlantic | CONUS Area (Aiken, South Carolina). This role is Contract Contingent, generally located across the Aiken, South Carolina Across The Southeast | South Atlantic | CONUS Region supporting a High-hazard nuclear cleanup environment requiring disciplined staffing, safety, quality, security, and regulatory compliance. The Senior Construction Material Engineer I | Construction Engineering (CDE) [L00523] is aligned with GSA Labor Category: Civil Structural Engineer DS107. This role shall be principally focused on ProSidian Strategic Resourcing and Professional Staff Augmentation for Construction Engineering (CDE) Solutions and Services. We seek candidates with relevant Nuclear And Environmental Management Sector Experience to support professional services engagement for Nuclear And Environmental Management Sector Clients such as SRMC. This is a Contract Contingent or Contract W-2 (IRS-1099) Construction Engineering (CDE) Functional Area / Swim Lane / Category Discipline Professional Position; however, ProSidian reserves the right to convert to a Full-Time ProSidian employed W-2 Position. The role focuses on Human Capital | Project Management | Engineering | Environmental | Compliance | Risk Management | IT Effectiveness | Business Process | Training Knowledge Management Solutions for clients such as Savannah River Mission Completion, LLC (SRMC) | SRMC Supply Chain / Procurement supporting the Liquid Waste Program under DOE prime contract 89303322DEM000068. The position provides Construction Engineering (CDE) Services and Solutions as a ProSidian Engagement Team Member working in a capacity that supports construction engineering activities through planning, analysis, coordination, documentation, compliance, quality assurance, and stakeholder support. The role controls construction materials from design through installation so field execution remains technically sound and traceable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with 4+ years construction Engineering or practical construction experience OR; High school diploma/GED and 10+ years combination of secondary education and/or practical construction experience

Responsibilities

  • Safety is a primary responsibility in each job performed. Obtain safety training, obey safety rules, and make safety an integral part of each task. Take necessary steps to stop work if continuing the activity is unsafe or will create and unsafe condition.
  • Manages and coordinates on an ongoing basis with field Engineering staff to resolve problems and support Project management needs.
  • Supports design planning meetings and walk downs. Provides advanced conceptual design and constructability reviews. Facilitates timely issue of design packages and changes by advanced problem solving.
  • Contributes to construction schedule development (i.e. material quantities, testing etc.)
  • Provides subject matter expert support in coordination of design/construction to resolve design problems of high complexity. Recommends design change options. Reviews/approves design changes.
  • Performs material takeoff and develops Bills of Material (BOM) or Material Service Requests (MSR) based on issued design. Provides material tracking service to help ensure timely receipt. Verifies received material to ensure compliance to design requirements (type and quantity).
  • Monitors compliance with applicable material codes and regulations (ASME, ASTM). Makes recommendations as necessary to improve compliance conditions.
  • Responsible for all construction material storage and staging areas ensuring that they comply with design and quality requirements and resolving issues as required.
  • Coordinates and expedites the flow of material within or between departments based on schedules or priorities.
  • Generates and/or reviews field fabrication sketches, weld maps, as-builts, etc.
  • Provides support for resolution of issues through direct interface with workers and/or supervision and coordination with support organizations.
  • Provides direction to workers as needed and serves as a mentor to less experienced Construction Engineers.
  • Performs field inspection support to ensure compliance to design specifications (materials, configuration), procedures, guides and National Codes and Standards.
  • Coordinates with Quality Organization for independent surveillance and inspection.
  • Ensures design or code required Non Destructive Examination (NDE) is complete and acceptable. Ensures proper M&TE use and documentation.
  • Monitors acceptance testing of materials for assurance that design and code testing is complete and acceptable. Provides documentation of acceptance testing.
  • Supports work package closure ensuring that all material inspections are complete and documented.
  • Assists in the development/design and verification of temporary construction structures (i.e. huts, support structures, etc.) and/or commodities (i.e. unique tools, miscellaneous equipment, etc.) as requested by facilities and/or management.
  • Oversee other CDE’s in different areas to coordinate and resolve material issues.
  • May perform the role of Area Lead CDE or discipline SME (Subject Matter Expert)
  • Other duties as assigned.
