About The Position

We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished Senior Construction Manager to oversee multiple, simultaneous large-scale retrofit projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing complex institutional projects valued at over $200 million, ensuring strict adherence to budgets, timelines, security protocols, and safety standards. This role demands exceptional leadership, problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of the unique challenges associated with secure facility renovations while maintaining uninterrupted operations.

Requirements

  • Must hold a valid Arizona ROC B-1 General Commercial Contractor License and have successfully passed the associated Trade Examination
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in construction project management, with significant experience managing projects valued over $100 million.
  • Proven experience running multiple large-scale retrofit/renovation projects in secure institutional environments, specifically detention or correctional facilities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the unique operational, safety, and security requirements of active correctional centers.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, decision-making, and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Procore, MS Project) and other relevant construction technologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, to include detention grade materials, contracts, and relevant legal requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all phases of the construction lifecycle for multiple projects, from conceptual development and planning to closeout, ensuring all deliverables meet contract specifications and client objectives.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor comprehensive project budgets (exceeding $200M total portfolio value), schedules, and cost estimates, implementing effective cost control techniques and mitigating financial risks.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between project owners (public agencies/correctional authorities), architects, engineers, general contractors, and specialized subcontractors, ensuring clear and consistent communication across all stakeholders.
  • Oversee daily on-site construction operations, ensuring strict compliance with all local, state, and federal building codes, safety regulations (OSHA), and security protocols for an active detention environment.
  • Manage and coordinate cross-functional teams and subcontractors, providing clear direction, resolving conflicts, and ensuring quality standards are met for specialized systems (e.g., security, MEP/FP, infrastructure).
  • Proactively identify potential project risks, such as delays, emergencies, or design issues, and develop and implement effective mitigation strategies to avoid cost overruns and schedule impacts.
  • Track and manage project documentation, including RFIs, submittents, change orders, and daily logs, maintaining accurate records for reporting and compliance purposes.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) checks to ensure work aligns with design documents and quality standards.
