This role involves applying standard inspection procedures to ongoing construction activities, both during and after completion, to ensure structural quality, general safety, and adherence to plans, specifications, and codes. The compensation for this position ranges from $36.00 to $47.00 per hour, determined by experience, education, and certifications. Requirements

  • Strong Computer proficiency
  • Active driver's license
  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
  • Soil and Aggregate Compaction - NICET LEVEL II
  • Asphalt Field Level I
  • Asphalt Field Level II
  • Hydraulic Cement Concrete Field - ACI Concrete Field Level I, or WACEL Concrete I, or NICET LEVEL II
  • Pavement Marking GRIT (Guardrail Certification)
  • Certification for Erosion and Sediment Control Inspection - Virginia DEQ
  • Stormwater Management (Inspector) Certification - Virginia DEQ
  • Nuclear Gauge Safety Training - Nuclear Regulatory Commission Recognized Provider
  • Intermediate Work Zone Traffic Control - VDOT Approved Provider
  • 10 Hour OSHA Safety Training – OSHA
  • Slurry Surfacing (SS)
  • Surface Treatment (ST)

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.
  • Perform routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials.
  • Measure dimensions and verify the level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades, and/or pavement to ensure compliance with plans and codes.
  • Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance with plans, contract documents, specifications, and standards.
  • Assign, schedule, and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all phases of the project.
  • Act on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction-related field issues.
  • Gather and maintain record documents.
  • Make field notes and computations.
  • Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries.
