About The Position

ABNA is seeking a Senior Construction Inspection Engineer for Chicago/Burr Ridge IL location specializing in site development. The Construction Inspector Engineer is a vital member of the Construction Management team and will work under the guidance of the Project Leader (Resident Engineer) and/or Construction Engineer. The responsibilities of the position are to perform inspection of construction activities, document conformance to plans and specifications, sample/test materials, document contract quantities, and ensure high-quality construction for transportation projects. This position will provide opportunities for growth, where continuing development and participation in professional societies will be encouraged and supported.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction Management from an accredited four-year University and 6+ years of Construction Management experience, or an associate degree in civil engineering or construction Management from an accredited technical college and 2-10 years of Construction Management experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and construction management databases/tracking software is required for this role.
  • Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) or the ability to obtain within one year for degreed engineers. (PE preferred)
  • Ability to obtain certifications for material sampling/testing for aggregates, concrete, asphalt, grading, etc.
  • Ability to obtain certifications for inspection of roadways, SWPPs, bridges, etc.
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for monitoring contractor conformance to plans and specifications, quality, and schedule for assigned construction activities.
  • Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records.
  • Assists in the completion of reports.
  • Keeps Resident Engineer informed of workload and daily activities.
  • Is active in technical societies.
  • Proactively interacts with the contractor to track crew work and equipment on the project.
  • Is able to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
  • Can communicate with clients effectively.
  • Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety
