About The Position

WSP is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to oversee the construction of a new Administration Building and Maintenance Garage facility in Massena, New York. This is a full-time field position based out of Troy, NY, but assigned to the client’s project office in Massena, NY. Candidates residing within commuting distance of Massena, NY are preferred. The inspector will be responsible for overseeing various site, utility, and building construction elements, including grading, paving, foundations, building erection, finishes, MEP systems, fire safety systems, storm and sanitary systems, and building controls. This role also involves coordinating final testing, commissioning, client turnover, and demolition/recycling of existing steel structures. The inspector will assist in coordination with utility providers like the New York Power Authority, the Town of Massena Department of Public Works, and GLS. Daily reporting will be to the GLS designated representative, and supervision will be provided by the WSP Project Manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 11 years applicable experience
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, design plans and specifications.
  • Applied knowledge of the NYS Building Code.
  • Have a valid driver's license.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or related field.
  • Average proficiency with MS WORD Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Interfacing with contractors and attending meetings.
  • Mentoring or supervising other inspectors, on behalf of resident engineer, or project manager.
  • Complete daily reports, measure and calculate unit price quantities.
  • Coordinate independent material sampling and testing.
  • Monitor maintenance of traffic.
  • Take and compile photographs, for tracking of daily progress.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
