About The Position

Garver has an opening based out of our Overland Park, KS office for a Senior Construction Inspector whose primary duties will include the inspection and observation of roadway and bridge construction projects, leading and mentoring other inspectors on the team, and coordinating staff between multiple projects. Additional aviation, water, wastewater, and utility projects may also be included. A successful candidate will be a team-oriented leader, with deep expertise in leading major construction projects, ability to provide exceptional customer service, and be able to engage in business pursuits.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in construction inspections and materials testing
  • Experience in observing roadway, bridge, airports, water & wastewater facilities, and utility construction projects.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current and valid driver's license
  • Proficient with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication experience
  • Possess inspection and/or material testing certifications for Missouri or Kansas DOT
  • Experience using AASHTOWare or similar software

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of inspectors on construction projects
  • Assist with market research and project pursuits to create/expand industry relationships, pursue and win engineering and construction projects
  • Provide construction oversight for clients.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and clients.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Monitor project progress, address issues, and ensure timely completion.
  • Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork.
  • Regular use of written and oral communication skills
  • Reading and interpreting data, information, construction plans, project specifications, test reports, schedules, and other documents
  • Analyzing and solving problems
  • Observing and interpreting situations on construction job sites
  • Performing highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks
  • Working under intense deadlines
  • Prepare daily reports on all construction activities, weather, personnel, materials, and equipment on site.
  • Measure, calculate, and report quantities of work performed to produce progressive pay estimates.
  • Ability to recruit and grow the CEI team.
