About The Position

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP (WRA) is seeking experienced Senior Construction Inspectors with Bridge construction experience to join their growing team. This role is crucial for staffing new contracts and projects, focusing on VDOT and Local Government projects in the Danville, Virginia area and the VDOT Lynchburg District. The inspector will manage and perform daily construction management and inspection services for various transportation projects, including VDOT, Design-Build, and locality initiatives. Key responsibilities include overseeing construction document controls, enforcing contract compliance, and ensuring work conforms to design plans, specifications, and permit requirements. The role requires proficiency in reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and shop drawings, along with strong communication and documentation skills.

Requirements

  • Minimum of six (6) years of specific field construction inspection experience in roadway and bridge construction, utility construction, and related pavement rehabilitation projects.
  • High School Diploma or State Equivalency Certificate.
  • Demonstrated inspection and management experience with roadway and bridge construction, utility construction, and related pavement rehabilitation projects.
  • Experience in coordinating inspection duties with multiple simultaneously operating crews.
  • Experience tracking daily quantities, completing daily inspection reports, performing monthly estimates and as-built drawings.
  • VDOT Soil and Aggregate Compaction (or NICET LEVEL II) certification.
  • VDOT Asphalt Field Level I & II certification.
  • VDOT Pavement Marking certification.
  • VDOT Slurry Surfacing certification.
  • VDOT Surface Treatment certification.
  • VDOT GRIT certification.
  • VDOT Intermediate Work Zone Traffic Control & Flagger with LEO certification.
  • ACI Concrete Testing Technician Level I certification.
  • DEQ Certification for Erosion and Sediment Control Inspection.
  • DEQ Certification for Stormwater Management Certification.
  • Nuclear Gauge Safety Training.
  • OSHA - 10 Hour Safety Training.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to read/interpret plans and specifications.
  • Writing and drawing skills necessary to complete inspection reports and documentation.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree or other advanced certificate.
  • Experience with AWP and PlanGrid/Autodesk Build.
  • Experience working on bridge projects.
