About The Position

Varmoda is seeking a Senior Computer Systems Engineer/Architect to support mission-critical platform infrastructure in an on-site government facility. This role requires expertise across systems administration, cybersecurity, automation, virtualization, monitoring, DevOps, and infrastructure management. The successful candidate will work proactively and independently, supporting geographically diverse locations and participating in a rotational on-call schedule. Key responsibilities include monitoring and optimizing system performance, managing application integration, conducting cybersecurity assessments, developing security incident response plans, implementing automation scripts, deploying and managing machines with various tools, managing host-based security systems, applying DevOps methodologies, using monitoring and logging tools, patching systems, and providing hardware support.

Requirements

At least 12 years of experience in the related field.
At least 4 years of hands-on experience working with OpenShift.
Active Secret clearance.
US Citizens without Dual Citizenship.
Must reside within a commutable distance.
Participation in a rotational on-call schedule for emergency page-outs is required.
Team player, fast learner with ability to work proactively and independently to support mission critical operations supporting geographically diverse locations.

Nice To Haves

Experience/knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure to manage, secure, and maintain the environment/platform infrastructure.
Experience with DevOps methodologies and Infrastructure as Code.
Experience with VMware, vCenter, Kickstart, Puppet, Foreman, and CIS-CAT.
Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, IBM NetCool, and SolarWinds.

Responsibilities

Monitor and optimize system performance and implement corrective actions on current platform(s).
Manage and maintain application integration leveraging current networking concepts including TCP/IP, routing, and firewalls.
Oversee and conduct regular cybersecurity vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
Develop and maintain security incident response plans and procedures.
Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to streamline platform deployments, provisioning, and management tasks.
Deploy and manage machines with VMware, vCenter, Kickstart, Puppet, Foreman, and CIS-CAT.
Manage and configure host-based security systems.
Apply DevOps methodologies and tools, supporting Infrastructure as Code (IaC) within RHEL containers.
Use monitoring and logging tools, such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, IBM NetCool, and SolarWinds.
Patch and manage systems using Red Hat Satellite Server.
Provide hardware support for servers and workstations.
Support and maintain platform infrastructure in a mission critical environment.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
