About The Position

The Senior Components Engineer supports projects located in Los Angeles, California, by performing electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and optical engineering work, particularly involving commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications. The role works with JPL project and mission assurance personnel to develop reliability engineering requirements and plans for space projects. It leads and performs work related to the selection, procurement, manufacture, use, and testing or screening of electronic components and parts for high-reliability applications. The engineer provides technical oversight of flight electronic parts tasks, develops engineering requirements specifications and drawings, and advises projects on parts selection to maximize reliability while considering cost and schedule. The role assesses reliability and quality requirements and risks associated with waivers, deficiencies, and failures, including those involving COTS parts. It also supports project system and design teams and continuous improvement of development methodologies and processes. This is a remote position with a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off; some travel may be required. Candidates may be considered for part-time or full-time employment. The position requires U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status. Employees must pass a national agency check and pre-employment drug screening, and participate in periodic random drug and alcohol screenings. Some positions may require clearance and extensive background verification. The work is generally in an office environment but may involve inside or outside work depending on the task. Schedules may change based on position requirements or customer needs.
