About The Position

NATIONAL is looking for a permanent, full-time (FTE) / dedicated employee to support the Firm’s Agency of Record client, Ford of Canada and their blended communications team based in Oakville, Ontario. Ford of Canada is committed to building a diverse, equitable and inclusive global Communications team, and looking for a passionate, creative professional who can engage target internal and external audiences with innovative ideas that breakthrough in a fast-changing environment. As a full-time (FTE) / dedicated Ford of Canada Communications team member, through NATIONAL Public Relations, the Senior Communications Specialist role will contribute to Ford's transformation and the company's future vision. This position is project-oriented and will challenge you to demonstrate strategic thinking, business acumen and technical skills.

Requirements

  • 5 to 10+years of experience in internal and employee, brand and/or corporate communications.
  • Post-secondary education in communications, public relations, journalism, media studies, marketing, advertising or a related field.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables concurrently.
  • Strong writing, editing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor content for different audiences and channels.
  • Proficiency with digital and social media tools relevant to content development, publishing and reporting.
  • A self-starter with the ability to balance strategic thinking with plan development and execution.
  • Strong project and program management skills.
  • Critical thinking and sound problem-solving ability.
  • Initiative, accountability and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingualism in English and French is a nice to have.
  • News reporting or editing experience.
  • Automotive industry knowledge and demonstrated media relations experience considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and execution for internal employee communications, inclusive of: monthly employee town halls and related internal communications activities.
  • executive communications materials, including key messages, speaking notes and presentation content.
  • internal stakeholder events and employee engagement initiatives across the Canadian organization.
  • content development and storytelling / story-mining – internal and external audiences.
  • Enterprise Storytelling, inclusive of: Ford Model e Communications – focused on shaping the future of EVs.
  • Ford Blue Communications – focused on iconic ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles.
  • Ford Pro Communications – supporting Ford’s industry-leading commercial vehicle business in Canada.
