About The Position

Kalamazoo LTC Pharmacy is seeking experienced Licensed Pharmacy Technicians to join our team as Permanent On-Call Specialists. This role supports both daily pharmacy operations and after-hours coverage through a rotating on-call schedule across Horizon, Pricings, and KLTC. The Permanent On-Call Specialist is responsible for supporting after-hours pharmacy operations, including responding to on-call phone requests, coordinating emergency medication needs, and communicating with pharmacists, dispatch, providers, and healthcare facilities. This position ensures continuity of care by addressing urgent medication requests and maintaining accurate documentation during assigned on-call periods.

Requirements

Active State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician license required
Minimum 1 year experience on the Order Entry team or 2 years employment with Horizon Pharmacy, Pricings Pharmacy, or Kalamazoo LTC Pharmacy
Must be in good standing with attendance, performance, and reliability expectations

Responsibilities

Monitor and respond to incoming calls on the on-call phone during assigned shifts
Assess urgency of requests and determine appropriate action
Communicate with dispatch, pharmacists, providers, and facilities regarding medication needs
Coordinate emergency medication dispensing and after-hours requests
Maintain accurate documentation of all calls, communications, and actions taken
Enter prescriptions, refills, MAPS, and patient information into pharmacy software as needed
Resolve medication-related issues and clarify orders with providers
Maintain organized call logs and after-hours records
Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and company policies
Monitor inventory levels of critical medications for after-hours operations
Perform additional duties as assigned
