About The Position

This position serves as a public relations and digital media resource for the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency within the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA). The Senior Communications Representative manages the agency’s external and internal websites, social media, and digital publications, and plans and conducts public relations programs. The role generates news and awareness of MVAA programs and services, works with the strategic communications team to develop, write, and disseminate agency messages, and supports brand development and awareness. The position assesses public attitudes and reviews the suitability of departmental presentations for community groups and internal audiences. It also maintains records and prepares agency reports and correspondence. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, broadcasting, telecommunications, advertising, communication arts, public relations, or a related field.
• Three years of professional experience preparing and disseminating informational and promotional materials equivalent to a Communications Representative, including one year equivalent to a Communications Representative P11.
