GiveWell is seeking a Senior Communications Officer, Editorial & Production to lead the editorial quality and production of its communications. This role involves setting editorial standards, building the necessary people and systems for consistent, high-quality content production at scale, and personally contributing to complex content. The position reports to the Vice President of Communications and will lead a growing team. This is a new leadership role created to support GiveWell's expanding research and impact, with the goal of directing substantially more funding to impactful opportunities. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end ownership of this emerging function, strengthening standards, hiring and developing staff, building systems, and handling critical content. This is an opportunity to build a function at a pivotal time for GiveWell. While the role is at the Senior Communications Officer level, exceptional candidates may be considered for a Communications Director position with increased responsibilities and compensation. The role requires both senior editorial judgment and strong operational leadership to ensure communications are clear, accurate, useful, carefully reasoned, and delivered on time. This includes managing workflows, editorial standards, review processes, and production systems, as well as leading planning, prioritization, and resource allocation for the owned-content portfolio. The role also involves upholding GiveWell's voice, developing recurring communications products, creating/editing high-priority content, overseeing website content operations, partnering with internal teams, and managing design/visual/multimedia asset production. The initial team will consist of one or two members, with the expectation that the function's team and capabilities will grow over time.
