About The Position

The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is seeking a Senior Communications Advisor to join the Communications, International and Stakeholder Affairs (CISA) division. This role reports to the Head of Corporate Communications and is responsible for ensuring consistent, timely, and effective communication across multiple corporate channels. The position involves leading strategic content development for web, social media, newsletters, and video, with a central focus on a multi-channel video and digital communications program. The advisor will produce compelling visual and written content, curate regulatory content for broad audiences, and ensure compliance with accessibility and French language obligations. Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive communications experience, including corporate messaging, multi-channel content strategy, social/digital media, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated expertise in corporate social media management, particularly LinkedIn, X, BlueSky and other emerging channels, with the ability to use analytics to drive engagement and reach.
  • Exceptional strategic writing and editorial skills with proven ability to translate complex regulatory and financial concepts into clear, compelling content tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Strong knowledge of capital markets environment, regulation, policy, and investment products/services; completion of the Canadian Securities Course or CFP designation is an asset.
  • Senior level interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and build trusted relationships.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with proven ability to articulate ideas clearly, foster consensus, and provide strategic advice at a senior level.
  • Strong judgment, decision making and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities, perform under pressure, and work with minimal direction.
  • A relevant university degree.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic leadership and direction for digital and social communications enterprise-wide.
  • Manage and continuously optimize the OSC’s corporate presence across platforms such as LinkedIn, X, BlueSky, and emerging channels, tailoring content to platform-specific behaviors and audiences.
  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of a multi-channel video and digital storytelling program, including concept development, scripting, production, and distribution strategies.
  • Lead and advance the use of analytics and audience insights to continuously refine content strategy and maximize performance across digital channels.
  • Leverage social listening and sentiment analysis to inform communications strategies and identify emerging issues.
  • Explore new platforms and channels to increase reach, relevance, and engagement.
  • Manage OSC digital advertising campaigns to amplify key messaging, events and regulatory initiatives.
  • Oversee the production and publication of the OSC’s monthly stakeholder newsletter, OSC Guide, that engages OSC subscribers, advisory committees and broadens reach.
  • Lead strategic content development across all OSC channels (web, social, newsletters, video), including collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure content aligns with OSC priorities and stakeholder interests.
  • Curate and adapt regulatory content for broad stakeholder audiences, ensuring clarity, accessibility, and consistency across platforms.
  • In conjunction with Head of Corporate Communications, develop event themes and formats that highlight OSC thought leadership and foster meaningful stakeholder engagement identifying and securing thought-provoking speakers, designing the agenda, and overseeing execution.
  • Ensure accessibility and inclusion across all engagement activities, including compliance with French language and accessibility obligations.
  • Serve as a brand champion for the OSC, ensuring consistent adherence to brand standards and guidelines across all communications.
  • Provide input into day-to-day planning, reporting, procurement, vendor management, and budgets.
