About The Position

Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state. Trans Mountain also operates a state-of-the-art loading facility, Westridge Marine Terminal, with three berths providing tidewater access to global markets. As a federal Crown corporation, Trans Mountain continues to build on more than 70 years of experience delivering operational and safety excellence through our crude oil pipeline system. With our expanded pipeline system now in place, Trans Mountain provides enhanced direct access for Canadian crude oil to world markets. Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as a Senior Communications Advisor (contract). In this position, you will play a key role in being responsible for the development and implementation of credible and compelling content that supports Trans Mountain's purpose, values and business performance that engage Trans Mountain's key audiences in meaningful ways. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong experience in corporate communications, storytelling and content creation, and stakeholder engagement.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Journalism Communications, or related discipline required.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in a related field with experience in content creation and storytelling.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products and SharePoint.
  • A track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and a willingness to contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive workplace culture.

Nice To Haves

  • International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) or Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) Accreditation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver strategic content, messages and materials that supports the organization’s business goals that informs, connects and engages audiences building business acumen, trust and credibility in Trans Mountain.
  • Build and foster collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders for cross-functional collaboration to identify key content opportunities that are strategically aligned with Trans Mountain’s goals and values, while reflecting shared perspectives and developing content with clarity, respect and timeliness.
  • Work with internal functions and departments to identify key business priorities and milestones, providing strategic communications counsel and executing communications plans.
  • Advise and influence leaders and teams on positioning to communicate clearly and effectively about business milestones, successes and performance.
  • Translate complex business and technical info into accessible, audience-focused content.
  • Monitor and measure effectiveness of content by identifying success metrics, analyzing feedback and trends, and using insights to continuously improve strategies and future efforts.
  • Participate as part of the Incident Command System (ICS) function, serving as Information or Liaison Officer to ensure timely, accurate communication during critical events.
